What's a good cam for GM Performance 25534446 (They are the large port heads, links at the end of the question...) I dont want a radical cam. Looking for a really good low-end torque cam (I guess thats how i describe that, lol)?

Starting to put all my parts together in a list for my 383 that im building...
Thanks for the help guys,
Nick

Heres the link for those heads im talking about: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/NAL-25534446/

225cc intake runner and low end torque ... don't think that's gonna work out for you.

if your going all out on a 383 stroker why not get a custom ground cam, contact Jay Allen. I used him years and years ago for the cams in my mustangs, im sure he is still around! For a few bucks more you cannot go wrong!

Call EPS. Or get ahold of Patrick G, he is all over LS1truck and LS1tech.

You will not regret it..

DONOT buy a off the shelf cam..
Cam should be last thing you buy..

Get a good Circle D 2800-3200 torque convertor, decide on gears based on tires..
Get your head situation finished. Then call and talk to a custom grinder and get your cam made based on you specific build...

It will be the smartest move you will make..

if there's not an on the shelf 383 cam by now, Id love to see what a custom one would do comparing. Only so many ways to do a fuel injected 383 Id think by now.

EVERY settup is differant. Valve size, how much the heads flow, gearing, tire size, torque converter stall speed, etc all play a part. Yes you mite be able to buy something similiar off the shelf but who the hell knows what works the best for that settup. You need that cam card! If there is a chance you need a new cam again you can probabaly match it up with something....but you need the #'s!

Years ago Jay was the best. He worked for a crooked company who robbed me for over 15K for a longblock but thats a whole other story. He/they are lucky I was a dumb teenager or they would all be 6' under rite now!:893Chainsaw-Smilie-
