Man crazy how ugly things have gotten recently in the auto world. GM, Toyota, and Honda - all having major issues with their drivetrains.

Someone should negotiate the purchase of the removed engines. I wonder if the replacement will be 'long blocks' and GM attaches the exterior remaining parts to the new engines?? ( I assume that would be too much labor? )
GM dealer puts all your original parts on the re-man long block.

OEM maintenance schedule is not, repeat, not, designed for maximum vehicle longevity. It is designed for the minimum required maintenance to get the vehicle to a reasonable amount of miles to be considered "end of life". Most OEMs this is about 150,000 to 175,000 miles. The OEM i worked for previously in component design, the internal benchmark was 150,000 miles.

If that were the case, then the engines would have died on some kind of mileage, any significant, well, there are 50 thousand miles, or 75 thousand miles. but not 100 miles, some don't even get to 1,000 miles, or to the first oil change.

It's even interesting how Audi engines drive 300 thousand km with an oil change every 30 thousand km, or how Volvos drive 200-300 thousand km with an oil change every 20 thousand km. And there's no V8, there's a very loaded 1.8T, 2.0T

I knew a woman who smoked 3 packs a day and drank heavily who lived to 101.

Very interesting.

I can guarantee you those 1.8t engines do not like extended oil changes. Between the crappy crankcase ventilation and the small oil sump, I have pulled many 1.8t oil pans for clogged oil pickups due to sludge and particle build up.

Are the oils even the same in Europe? I found out a lot of our foods are banned in Europe because of ingredients. I would imagine EU oil having a different make up than oil sold here. I could be completely wrong about EU oil as well

It is also interesting that 1 km is 0.62 miles.
