Hope its ok to ask about the silvy here, but I dont have the slightest WTF is happening with it.

Well shoot, wasnt even towing or hauling anything, Just actually going to get it washed, Pulled in to the lot and noticed it was stopping, you know like in 4x4, well low and behold it was in 4x4, ok figure it was just the switch acting up, Go and push 2wd and BANG CLANG BANG CLANG, 2wd light blinking, it went back in to 4x4, so I thought well, I just had this crap replaced so it should be a warranty, Turn it off, restart it, goes back in to 2wd just fine, But shift in to R, revs like its in N, Shift in to D same deal, then all of a sudden BANG Im julted forward, It would only drive in 2 and at 40 mph I was turning 4500 revs. Then a mile later it makes this gawd awful grinding noise and then a nother BANG, its back in 4x4, but now it drives normal??? Like perfect normal, shifts through all 4 gears just fine, other than im in 4x4, wont go back in to 2wd though. Get it home, restart it again, Back in to 2wd again just fine, but revs in any gear, doesnt matter whether its R,d,3,2,or 1. And it wont go in to park (well the shifter does, but it still moves, its being held by th parking brake now, sitting at home). I dont wanna go through this crap again, Where can I go to get a built tranny put in? I want one that will handle 650 HP, I have decided to just keep it now that I have to put this amount of money in it to sell it, will just make selling it actually worse than keeping it. So I have some plans for it after the tranny is done, IN the spring I hope to get a jag, but until then

Might be the transfercase in my denali a year ago had a similar problem but mine kept going into nutral all of a sudden and when i took it out of D to P it was like gears breaking then turn it off and it would run normal for a couple of mins then to nutral again and after a couple of blocks it just quit on me it didnt go anywhere and i also though it was the tranny that went bad but it was my transfercase motor the went bad i got lucky that time but not so lucky bout 3 months ago when my tranny did go bad.

No.

Definitely transfercase failure. You need to fix that silverado and sell it RT.

its its just the T-case I got that replaced like 8 months ago so it still has a warranty, so that should actually be free, but its its the tranny im going to replace it with a built one and keep the truck as that will put me way over any cost I might get for it, and the truck should have everything replaced thats ever going to go wrong.

just curious, why would the t CASE make even the rear wheels not go? when it does the neutral feeling, its not under load, its just free revving.

That's what I was wondering RT, that's why I questioned the rear-end, since it still moved in 4wd but not in 2wd

Its just really confusing. Lodically since the tranny was replaced a year ago, and the tcase 8 months ago, The rear end is the only origional part. But knowing gm it not surprising if its either of those. I really do need a 2500.

RT, for the symptoms you are explaining it does sound like your Transfer Case. Remember that the power goes from the tranny to the Tcase, and then its sent to the rear wheels and the front wheels. If the Tcase chain or gears are going bad, then it will work in 2wd or 4wd, either or, or it will not work at all. Usually when the lights on the switches blink, it means there is a malfunction in the system. If the differential was bad, you would be hearing grinding or metallic sounds EVERY time, including in 4x4. But you stated that the truck runs fine in 4x4, ruling the diff out. If the Tcase is still under warranty then you should be fine! Goodluck and let us know!

hey just to update, when I went to test it today, it started in auto 4x4, I pressed 2wd and it grinded like hell and the speedo was showing like 15 mph. IDK what this tells us here, but its just damn confusing.

There is an actuator (not sure what it is called) that engages and disengages the transfer case in and out of 4X4, I would bet that is screwing up, it happened on my bosses Titan at the dunes a year ago, had the same symptoms as yours, brinking 4X4 light, in and out of 4x4 on its own, and the god awful noises!! He ignored it and that was a very bad deal, actually exploded the pumpkin on his axle in 2 pieces!! It was actually engaging the 4x4 whenever it wanted to, whether you were driving or not!! Don't continue to drive it, take it to a dealer to get it properly diagnosed (took them 2 days of looking at it to figure it out) before it grenades your other stuff!!

I just had the actuator motor and control module replaced like 2 weeks ago, like an 800 dollar repair.

picked it up today, Dealer kept it for 2 days, they found nothing wrong, absolutly nothing, he said gears were good, t-case, tranny and rear end all looked fine, IT drives normal now, no idea, what ever , it was free so now to either sell it or get it traded for somthing!
