Bilstein 4600 or 5100???

I'm running the Bilstein 5100 shocks with a 3 inch drop and am very happy with them. They dampen very well, and provide a nice planted feel to rear end.

Have you tried any other series of bilstein? I was kinda set on the 4600 but now I don't know. I didnt even know about the 5125. I want the best ride I can get in rear and bilstein seem like the way to go. But now you've thrown me a curve ball.

I've ridden in a Tahoe with the 4600 shocks and they ride great, but were a little too soft for my liking. I like a little more firm ride but still not harsh and The 5100s offer that. Most people use the 4600s on here though. I don't see many using the 5100

5125 is for raised vehicles I think. What is the difference between the 5100 and the 4600?

I would guess stiffer. Everybody says they're using bilsteins but not sure what series, Besides shudal.

Your correct, the 5125 are designed for lifted applications. However, my shocks were ordered to be shorter to work with my rear drop. I went with the 5125 after a member on here (Modded) had good things to say about them, and I rode in a tahoe with the same setup. However, on here, people go with the Bilstein 4600 as they are a direct fit for the stock tahoe.

No, they require a slightly smaller bolt size. I ended up just pressing out the bushings from my old shocks and using those, so I could keep the factory bolts.

I just ordered a set of 4600's for the front of mine. They will be replacing the stock red shocks. I have almost 70k on the clock so I guess it is about time to replace them. I have the nivomat ZW7 premium ride shocks in the rear. Anyone know how long these things last?

4600's here, they ride great and control everything just fine, but they are a little soft for my liking as well.

Thanks for the note. I'm still thinking the 4600 series. I'm old and want a smooth quiet ride. I have a sports car with Bilstein sport - so if I want a bumpy ride I have that available to me.
My current question is when changing out of the ZW7 RPO (Premium Ride) to "standard" shocks why not just get stock springs from GM? They don't cost that much, maybe less than the Bilstein (1999021) or Eibach (pn not known) springs.

I assume your talking about a front coil over? If so I took a set from my buddy's Trailblazer to a local shop and they loaded them for $50.
