The labor to remove the old ball joint ( many times a difficult job)…… Then install the new ball joint…….

Buy the whole control arm. Saves labor & it’s common to buy it assembled….. The price is about the same cost.

Get the two together, and you won't have to mess around with removing/reinstalling the ball joint, AND you will get new control arm bushings.

FYI, Installed Moog complete upper control arms recently on our 04. Grease boots blew out on both ball joints. Lower balljoints, one plugged and will not take grease. I will Avoid Moog.

You replaced the factory upper control arm ball joints?

Moog CK Series is the same as ACDelco Gold/Professional and last between 10-50K miles.

Moog RK Series is what you put on when you are selling the car the next day.

GM Original Equipment is well, what your truck came with and they last a long, long, long time.

The factory upper control arms are not serviceable, not supposed to rebuild them but I know there is some new tech out there that I may not be aware of.

It generally doesn't pay to replace the ball joints in any because you still have the rubber bushings that connect to the frame and the labor and aggravation to do that was not worth it to me. I did save my original lowers to rebuild them in the even the OE ones go out of production when my truck hits 320K miles in 7-8 years.
