Did a search but nothing had the info I was looking for. I recently traded my Avalanche for a new Tahoe and pulled my aftermarket backup cam out and wanted to install it on my Tahoe. Best Buy did the original install on my Avalanche and when removing I didnt pay close enough attention but noticed the backup cam wire on the back on my Kenwood DDX 514 head unit ran to a wire under my dash. I installed the camera on the Hoe yesterday and the backup camera works when I manually turn it on with the head unit but I'm assuming I need this wire hooked up to have it automatically switch screens.

Hope this makes sense any help appreciated I 'd hate to take it somewhere to have one wire hooked up.

Yeah, it's the reverse signal, it's what tells the HU that the car is in reverse and to switch on the cam.

If you have an aftermarket head unit and you're using the Axxess GMOS LAN 2 like I am, you just need to connect the green/purple wire from the 14 pin harness to the reverse signal input on your head unit.

I'm sure there is a wire in the factory harness you could tap too, but all the OnStar modules should have the reverse signal output.

if you are using the PAC OS4, it also has reverse signal output. Plus you may need to set the head unit to enable r.cam override so it will come on automatically. My DNX8120 has that setting, IIRC. Not sure about your DDX though

Right, you have to activate it on the P3100 too, I had to set the "Polarity" of the camera to "battery".

Yep, what they said. Your bypass module should have a wire specifically for the reverse input. If it does not there is a wire near the steering column that you can use, I believe it is green. You will still have to setup your head unit though.

Yeah the green wire under the column is the one I believe I need. I have a non onstar none bose Tahoe, gotta find my receipt for the kit I bought I cant remember offhand. I do have the head unit setup on auto for the camera, just need the right wire on the column to tap into.
