Avoid 2015 Models?

Hey all,

I currently have a 2011 PPV tahoe and I'm tossing around the idea of making the upgrade to a 2015 tahoe.

Took a short glance over the few threads here and it seems like there are a lot of folks unhappy with the 2015. Are there any major issues with the drivetrain that need to be addressed or have they fixed it from the previous years? (mainly AFM / DoD stuff). Are people just upset with the "booming" noises?

I've come across a few '15's with 90-100k, but they seem to still be pulling a $28k-$30k premium... is this normal?

We have had a 2015 for 10 months and love it. No issues that I have now read on the 2015 threads. We are only at 41k miles but drove it to Oregon from Colorado last summer and pulled a camper down the OR coast. Not a single issue other than the right front strut made some noise a few weeks back when it was cold. Has not done the same thing since and it has been much colder.

I have a 2015 Tahoe LTZ with 30K miles. SUV will be 5 years old in June. Had oil changed and tires rotated every 5K miles. Only recalls have been done. No other service performed.

i was just in the same boat as you a few weeks ago. we went ahead and pulled the trigger on a use CPO 15 Denali. so far we have really enjoyed it. they do still pull a premium $. it also depends on your location. we looked at a 2015 Yukon SLT with 108,000 miles and it was still $29,000. granted is was fully loaded with buckets, dvd, sunroof, etc. we ended up paying more for a Denali with 55,000 miles just to get CPO and better resell, etc. 15-16 Tahoes with under 80k miles are ranging anywhere from $35 - $43k. don't know if this helps, i am located in Omaha.

These vehicles hold their value. A similarly priced BMW would be half that.

You’re not suggesting a fully loaded 2015 x5 with 100k miles would go for $14k...are you?

Because a BASE 2015 X5 goes for ~$20-25k

Nope, you’re wrong, you didn’t put the right miles in. 100k miles is around $17k.

I purchased a 2015/lt 12 months ago. It had 27000 miles and now has 76000 miles. I have replaced the vacuum pump, ac compressor, ac condenser and all 6 pillar appliques. They are a nice ride but definitely have issues.

I bought my 2015 in July 2017 with 60k miles.

The only issue I have had so far (besides 2 small annoying rattles that happen occasionally) was the power lift gate strut. It breaking may have been my own doing. I replaced it in 5 minutes for under $110.

I now have 102k miles ( I drive a lot). I have done normal maintenance like spark plugs and front brakes, but literally nothing else has gone wrong with this truck! (Knock on wood)
