Auto stop perminant disable?

Just ordered a '22 tahoe with 6.2L. It looks like they are putting the auto start/stop back in now (although still no heated steering wheel). Has anyone installed this thing on a '22?

Haven’t tried that but it looks like a cool idea. Guessing it just sends an auto-press of that Start/Stop Disable button.

That’s a lot better than hitting the button each time.

they just wired up a micro-switch to plug-n-play same thing that is used to bypass in motion video on aftermarket head units
so instead of you having to hit the button the electronic switch does it each time the power is cycled

Pretty simple circuit. I designed and built one for the TCS on my 2002 Trans Am so the traction control would be off by default. I just created a delayed pulse circuit to replicate pushing the button right after starting the engine. $100 seems pretty expensive for what is about $2 in parts. It's simple enough that you really don't even need a circuit board, just solder the components to each other. This is what my circuit looked like.

I ordered and installed that exact device for my 2021 Yukon Denali. It worked flawlessly. It remembers the position of the switch each time you turn the vehicle off and then returns it to that position when you re-start the vehicle. I traded my 2021 in on a 2022 and the new vehicle was built without the auto start/stop, so I did not need it on the new vehicle. I highly recommend that company. They were great to deal with.

Thanks guys, i'll order one then. I might also get one for my wife's Odyssey, but the install looks a bit more involved.

Im not sure why they had to waste a microchip on that stupid feature. I want warm hands and HD radio... oh and a build date... still waiting for a build date.

I ordered and installed this device as well. I can confirm it works exactly as described. It is a great device and works flawlessly.

Install took about 20 minutes. Easily done.

Kudos to whomever thought of this. I don’t think it is a micro switch. Seems more like an electronic latching relay.

It is only about $5 or so in parts, but for plug’n play and simple installation, it was definitely worth it for me. It looks stock, complete with cloth-taped wire loom. Customer service was great and the YouTube video helped.

This may be a naive question, but does anyone know if adding a device like this impacts the warranty? I’ve had two major repairs already to my 2021 Tahoe with under 20K miles.

I installed the same thing on my 2021 GMC Sierra 6.2, works great. I like it because it keeps the Auto Stop functional not just a disable device. That way you don't have a "dead" switch.

Did they provide any images on how to replace it on the denali? i have a denali as well and would like to install this device but their video is for a different trim and the dash is different and I assume need to be taken apart differently. i am scared to just start prying on my new truck. any picture of the process or install tips would be helpful. thanks.

I installed mine yesterday on my 2022 High Country. I was a little nervous as well, but it worked out beautifully. The hardest part was pulling off the center dash piece, clips fit in very tightly. Has worked perfectly. Only had this vehicle for a couple of days, but didnt like having to press the button to stop the feature (forgetful) most of the time. Great product.

I can confirm, this worked on my 2021 Yukon Denali. Works exactly as it’s supposed to. I wish GM could have just made the Auto Stop button like this in the first place.

Why is this faster than just hitting the auto start/stop button?

Curious about this as well. Any time GM (or any manufacturer for that matter) can point to an unknown and deny a warranty claim they will.
