FWIW I just got done installing 2 MR3840's in our 2016 Tahoe LTZ. Wow... it made a huge difference. The procedure for me was the same as replacing mechanical struts (coil+cylinder as an assembly helps make this a faster job).
Only difference is you have to unplug an electrical connector. The new shocks did come with a sticker on them instructing "to avoid codes, do a trim height relearn". Pretty sure my OBD tool (from 2010 or so) is too old to do this. I'm actually really happy with the ride quality at the moment, and I'm not sure that this procedure is even necessary in most cases. If you are not changing the height of your vehicle, it may not matter much. Also, I dd not get any codes after the installation.
