SO.... I installed a pair of Arnott AS-3429 shocks on the back of the wife's Yukon XL just about 2 years ago. She told me the other day the truck was real bouncy in the back. Both top hats of the shocks have come loose from the shock shaft, threads are fine just unthreaded. Driver's side punched a hole in the bag and snapped the air fitting off. The passenger side pushed up against the exhaust hanger and damn near chaffed through the air line. Can't say I've seen that before. I bought them on Rock Auto, put in a warranty claim on their site (less than two weeks before the two years was up). Will cost me ~$30 in shipping and looks like I'll need to replace the air lines. I'm installing the shocks myself, so no labor costs.

Not looking forward to replacing the passenger side airline, anyone had to do that? The airline disappears into the wiring loom. I am thinking I will install the new one in it's own conduit and abandon the old on. I'll route it alongside the existing and zip tie it to it. Thoughts?

Anyone seen this before? It is my wife's daily, she is a stay at home mom - a tank of fuel usually lasts a month or so. I use the truck for pulling my car trailer occasionally, about every 3 months or so to take the jeep out.

That's wild. I never saw anything like that before.

You can purchase a replacement air line kit from GMPartsDirect.com, if you need to.

How many miles are on the shocks? I bought my truck June 2023, drove about 30k per year, just change my fronts because they were leaking air but rears still felt good

There’s a reason I tell people to avoid these. I’ve seen this before, one even destroyed the auxiliary heater hoses and all the coolant leaked out.

Wow, thank you for posting about this. I installed Arnotts on my '08 Infiniti QX56 about four years back and have had no problems. This is the first I am learning of potential issues. Too bad because I really like their product.

How in the world can that happen!!?…the threads on the shaft tips don’t look damaged from what I can tell…so unless there was a lot of rotation of the base during install for some reason idk how that could even happen….

The shaft is not fixed inside the shock, it can rotate.

Do you have a recommendation for a replacement? I want to retain the air bags for towing, but delete the mag-ride. I do not mind a separate simulator for the mag-ride bypass.

The shaft threaded back on to the top hat with no problem, threads are just fine. No rotation at time of install, took just under two years and 18k miles to unthread themselves. I am hopeful they remembered the red loctite on this pair. I won't be buying another pair, but will continue to swap them out under warranty just as long as I can.

I’ve run Arnott shocks for about 7 years on an 02 and an 08 with zero issues. I’ve never even heard of them having any issues like this. They make replacement shocks for Maybachs and are well known in the air shock world as quality. Strange issue you had. I’m wondering if they’re knockoffs. Just because they came from Rock Auto doesn’t make them exempt from that.
