Hey Guys,
So I bought my 2WD Tahoe, Lowered it and Put 24's on it not at all expecting to tow, but now I am looking at buying a boat and want to see if I can even tow the thing... Its a 23 Contender center console that weights 4500 dry and 6300lbs ready to fish (wet). I know that is within the limits of a 2wd tahoe, but with my suspension and tires can I still do it safely? I will be towing a VERY short distance (5 miles each way a best) on all flat roads... Worried about 2WD and Nitto NT420S's on the ramp tho...

So is anyone as dumb as me? :)
Thanks,
Evan

I towed several cars now, and JKMotorsports towed my truck a while back...i did have rubbing issues on the upper control arm over big long hwy bumps at 60mph before buying a Spohn PH bar. I was traveling 200miles tho, 5miles aint nothin for ya. If you're really worried about it, just get a Spohn adjustable panhard bar and helper bags.

I have an 03 suburban dropped 3/5 with helpers in the rear coils on 24's... Haul a 24" boat and a 28" enclosed car hauler with usually a chevelle or similar weight in it. Hauls great and have been on many 5+ hour trips one way. Now its getting fully bagged to lay frame and should haul even better... BTW never got stuck on a ramp or at all for that reason... I have the g80 which i just replaced with an eaton posi since i had to narrow the rear anyways... so anyways you will be fine but if you don't have helpers I would recommend them highly

Thanks for the responses guys! Kinda surprised, I expected this to go the other way! One question though, are you guys 2wd or 4wd drive? For those who are 2wd, any issue on boat ramps? My truck will have a 150-200lbs sound system right over the rear axle soon, which should help with traction, but I am still a bit worried about spinning on the ramp...
Thanks again,
Evan
PS- I would for sure get the McG helper bags, I knew I would at least need those...

Looks sick.. Do you have helpers

yep McGaughys (firestone) helper bags

When i use my car trailer I just use a standard, 2" drop? stinger with a 2" ball. I have other stingers for different trailers to make sure the the trailer is parallel with the ground.

I have an 01 suburban and weekly tow a 17ft 4 horse trailer fully loaded with 4-6 adults. I have a full time ART air ride though. The helper bags I had, I didn't like. They raised my truck with out weight(no trailer) and I didn't like that. I have never had it on a boat ramp so I'm no help there, I'm guessing if you drop to 3-2 gear and just go slow you'll be fine. My sub actually rides better with a trailer but my hitch is a 6" drop reversed to be a 6" lift. I can't wait to bag the front and be able to roll up fully loaded and still be low!!

Thanks for the info guys! Sounds like its doable especially for my short distance. The boat ramp is still my biggest concern, guess I'll just have to watch the tide and not pull out at low tide...

im on 4s now, 3/5 drop sitting in a box right here that will be on soon. i have a 2 inch drop hitch. when i drop this can i just flip the hitch and ball, or do i need to buy a 3 or 5 inch drop hitch and flip?

my 4s have never ever once had a problem pulling from a wet ramp. then again i never let the tires hit the water, but you shouldnt have to in most cases
