My wife has been telling me that the last few times she has put gas in the tahoe that the pump will stop and when she pulls away the gas gauge does not show full. It looks as if the pump stops just short of full.

A few weeks ago, after the first time she had issues, when I had to fill it up I put the pump on the "medium" notch and after it stopped I manually controlled the pump and got about another 2 gallons of gas in the tank before it stopped again. When I turned the key, the gauge pegged out on the F and I guess it was actually full.

Do these truck have tendency to "burp" early? The nozzle sits a bit more vertical than any other vehicle I have owned. Not sure if the design of the filler neck makes the vapor trick the pump into thinking its full.

I always give it another go anyway...and I hope you don't mind me mentioning it...but especially with today's prices, pumps cutting off at $75, $80, $85 are pretty common...even though I typically put $90-$95 of gas in my Tahoe these days. Swiping the card twice sucks.

That could very well be the issue

AGREE! This is in my opinion total BS. If I swipe my credit card and it let's me swipe it immidiately after AGAIN, why does a pump shut off in the first place at a given dollar amount?

I should've elaborated on my post. That's the TSB to go into the dealer with and the part numbers they should replace. That's for this exact issue.

As for the pump stopping, that's the amount the credit card company will let the gas station pre-auth before having to start a new transaction. A few years ago I would fill a Tahoe and two 16 gallon jet skis during peak prices. I'd have to swipe once for 87 for the Tahoe, then twice for premium to fill up the skis.

I disagree that the pumps stopping at a determined price is due to credit cards. Gas stations have 100% control over that. The Shell right by my house use to stop at $75. I got sick of it, and so did several other customers that were filling with diesel. I talked to the gas station over a year ago and expressed my frustration. After getting a few other people customers doing the same thing I did they decided to raise the limit to $150. It's all in the people running the station.

I'm having the SAME problem. Can't fill up without the pump stopping at least 20 times, it takes forever to top off. Been doing some research and there's a possibility that it's a bad canister purge solenoid valve. Fortunately I purchased my truck as a CPO, the bumper to bumper warranty is good till the end of July. Thanks goodness for the warranty, looks like the replacement part is $250-$300.

Jmat,

Refueling issues relating to the pump shutting off prior to completely fill the tank is an industry wide issue due to a variation in OPW 11B fuel nozzles throughout the fuel station industry.

Until the fuel station industry can replace these nozzles with improved versions, I encourage you to try another fuel station.

Please keep me posted.

Thanks for your input Louis. Initially I thought it may be an issue with the pumps at the particular gas station I was using. Have tried several others since this started happening with the same result. Additionally I've fueled my other vehicle at the above mentioned gas stations without incident. Thanks again.

Wow! Seriously Louis? Let's be straight up here and point out the TSBs GM had for crappy solenoids and EVAP CVSs. I've installed the redesigned part on my truck already. You guys know there is a problem and you just proved why GM customer service sucks. Anybody who is looking for credible info should click on the link in the second post of this thread. You will fine info on all the parts and TSBs concerning this problem.

When is GM going to replace all the cracked dashes on the NNBS trucks? I'm still waiting.

Louis, I beg to differ. I've been with friends in at LEAST 50 different cars not made by GM and NONE of them have this problem... new and old. Different stations new and old. However we have 3 07+ Tahoes/Yukons in our family and they ALL have this problem no matter where we fill.

NHTSA TSB link

There also is TSB 09-06-04-028B but too lazy to link it.

My 07 keeps shutting off now too, just started about 2 months ago. Total pain in the ars!
Its popping off around half a tank so the 75 limit at the station has nothing to do with it.

I have experienced exactly this above. I have issues filling up at the 7-11 near my house. The pump literally shuts off atleast 5 times before I can get $1 worth of gas. I am not sure what type of gas they sell. I also fill up at Murphy USA, QT, Race Trac, and Exxon and never have this issue. I only have this issue at the 7-11. :emotions122:

The dashboards only crack when you park the trucks under "certain" sunlight. Park in a different spot.

I have this problem as well as my check engine light going on with a steady light. I then remove the gas cap and then put it back on and the light will go off after starting the engine a few times.
Any suggestions on exactly what may need to be fixed/replaced?

If you've tried all the usual recommendations and still have the same problem, please see the attached PDF. My charcoal canister was compromised and leaked, this is how I fixed everything.
