Sounds like you should get a bubba / XL / ESV ...Yall are swaying me into a LWB and I dont know how to feel about it.
The LWB will fit in my garage with no issues. In my specific case, it comes down to if I want to continue driving a long vehicle vs. if I want something slightly shorter.
The SWB is 15" shorter than what I drive today, so a pretty significant difference. However I am already well versed and comfortable driving a larger vehicle ...
The SWB or LWB will fit in my garage, neither will be able to open the hatch.
My internal dilemma is the day to day. Having the useable space of the LWB is great,
but having to haul around that much empty space for the occasional road trip or family in town is a tough sell.
On the flip side, I am already driving a vehicle that is longer than the LWB.
So i will be giving up a ton of functionality plus i am already familiar with the driving dynamics of a larger vehicle.
There are so many variables there. Air ride or std suspension? Rim size? I bet if you were blindfolded and put in an identical Tahoe and Suburban you could not tell the difference.LWB will ride better.
All depends on your situation. I pulled the 3rd row out of my 2010 Tahoe and it sat unused in my garage for 10 years.I’ll offer an opinion.
I’ve owned several suburbans and Tahoes in my time. I like the handiness of the Tahoe. If it was just me the Mrs and maybe 1 dog the Tahoe can fit the bill. But when I want to carry some additional stuff, it cramps my style. I lost both my dogs and the Tahoe with just us was great. We could easily carry two more people and all the stuff we wanted. We just added two new pointer puppies. They accompany us everywhere. Now if it’s us and the pups in their crates, it’s ok.
I just traded in my Tahoe for a suburban. What a difference.
I put the two pointer pups behind the second row. Step mom in back seat. Her sister in back seat. A walker, dog bag, step up and shopping packages in the cargo area.
I like the look of the suburban just a little more too. Depending on where I worked and parking I might not like it as a daily driver (parking). Especially in a paid garage. But in a private lot. I’ve driven one as a daily driver.
I did the same. The third row folding flat has since eliminated that need. All depends on your situation. I pulled the 3rd row out of my 2010 Tahoe and it sat unused in my garage for 10 years.
Same here with my 2003. That third row got used twice in 180k miles. All depends on your situation. I pulled the 3rd row out of my 2010 Tahoe and it sat unused in my garage for 10 years.
have both xl and Tahoe the space behind the third seat is the difference an it is a big difference I love them both but the extra space I use all the timeI have been shopping for a Tahoe/Yukon for months and were getting ready to pull the trigger.
However we have a friend who just got a suburban and absolutely loves the space. We have a kid on the way and now I am second guessing which option I should go with.
Anyone who purchased Tahoe/Yukon, do you have regrets about not getting the longer wheelbase versions? Question could also be asked the other way too.
Note: I currently have a GMC sierra which is the exact same length as a Suburban/XL, so the size wouldnt be new to me
I had the 2nd row bench so I could seat 5. The 3rd row in my Yukon XL has never been used since I bought it a few years ago. Then again I had an AWD 1991 Honda Civic wagon and never really needed more room with that one. LOL!Until / Without the independent rear suspension, 3rd row seats never really made enough sense to me, even less so for SWB.
Independent rear suspension made the 3rd row far easier to get into, far more comfy for longer rides, and far easier to get out of once y'all got there.
Live axle plus short wheelbase = bet the vast majority don't have or often use their 3rd row seats. I know I don't miss them, and likely never will.
5? FIVE? Horseschidt right there.I had the 2nd row bench so I could seat 5.
Hunh? I took the 3rd row out so 2 in Front, 3 in back.5? FIVE? Horseschidt right there.
Still want a GMT900 / GMTK2xx pickup truck central 3rd seat, stores more than a center console, plus I can give driving lessons, and we can share affection.
My Fleetwood seated 6, my Caprice sedans seated 6 once I installed better front seats, and my wagon seat-belted 8 legally (11 fit, but only 8 seat belts).

Was saying that it's a gottdamnt travesty, that a pickup truck's front row can seat 3, and every single car I ever owned sat 3 up front (including 2 Dodge Intrepids),Hunh? I took the 3rd row out so 2 in Front, 3 in back.

so I could give driving lessons from the middle seat, or my woman and I could snuggle up ... but SUVs only seat 2 up front?
We snuggled in the front row ... but for the really fun stuff, 2nd & 3rd row Caprice wagon seats fold perfectly flat.SUV = Saving Ur Virginity
Didn't the old LS have the 3 row option up front? Was saying that it's a gottdamnt travesty, that a pickup truck's front row can seat 3, and every single car I ever owned sat 3 up front (including 2 Dodge Intrepids),

Don't know enough about suvs, think a 3-seat front row is still an option for 'work trucks' though.Didn't the old LS have the 3 row option up front?
