Any regrets not getting a Suburban/XL instead of Tahoe/Yukon?

I have a long version of Yukon. Now I can't even imagine how to ride a short bike. The long version has several advantages.
1. It's a straight tailgate, so you get your clothes dirty less.
2. This is a different form of floor in the third row, so it is much more convenient for adults to sit in the third row than in the short version.
3. It's clear that the trunk is much more spacious
4. This is an enlarged tank. I don't know how, but even an enlarged tank of the long version is not enough for me, it happens that the consumption is 7.5MPG. And the shorter version generally drives around gas stations.
5. A long base on a high-speed highway is still more comfortable and stable than a short one.

Of the disadvantages of a long base, it's only a little more difficult with parking, but you quickly get used to it.

By towing at 100mph. Trailer hubs will also become an expense.
Trailer hubs are already a consumable item on trailers that are regularly submerged in water to launch jet skis. Therefore, we typically replace them every 10,000-15,000 miles.

I got the short wheelbase Yukon, mainly because I liked the better maneuverability and felt I'd only rarely miss the extra space. My kids are all grown, and we don't have any dogs. At most, we might travel somewhere with one other couple, and there's plenty of room for four adults. I frequently use my Yukon for my handyman side hustle. Even then, I don't wish for more space in the back. I can fit 10ft lumber up the middle, which is usually good enough. I have a utility trailer for sheet goods or longer materials up to 16ft when needed. I will confess that since I switched jobs a few months ago to one with a longer commute and much tighter parking situation, I've wished for a way to carry one or two full-size sheets of plywood without the trailer, and without lifting them onto the roof rack. Even so, I wouldn't lug around the extra 2 feet of SUV just for that. I'm thinking of using a truck bed extender and a way to hold the hatch partially open as a workaround.

I appreciate that there is a wisdom to proportionality.
However, I've also always wondered about the following Frankensteins

a bubba / XL / ESV with a Tahoe's 116"-120" wheelbase ...
or
a TYaukhonoe / 'sclade with a bubba's 130"-134" wheelbase ...

Had a Tahoe and was looking for another when I found a good deal on a Yukon XL. I don't regret buying it but I'd look for another Yukon or Tahoe if I were in the market again. I just don't need the extra space. It does fit in my garage, but mine is 24' deep. A Tahoe is easier to park. Funny, growing up our family of 4 would go on vacation in a 1972 2 door Toyota Corolla wagon. Somehow we all survived!

My folks had an '80 Corolla wagon and I remember the 5 of us going on vacation in it. Took it from Florida to the '82 World's Fair in Knoxville, Tennessee. We fought a lot us kids but all survived! LOL

A year or so later we piled all my buddies into it for a trip to the go-cart track and broke the rear axle.

A few years after that it almost killed me when it was rear ended.

Now it's go big or stay home! No more little cars. I've driven through hurricanes and torrential storms and could never get over the debris in a car. With the truck, we already have recovery gear in the back and could bring along the chainsaw to clear the road if needs be.

The front shock towers rusted out on the '72. Made for some interesting cornering behavior if you pushed it to hard. Had 250K when my dad put it out to pasture. I taught at least 15 people how to drive stick on that thing.

I have been shopping for a Tahoe/Yukon for months and were getting ready to pull the trigger.

However we have a friend who just got a suburban and absolutely loves the space. We have a kid on the way and now I am second guessing which option I should go with.

Anyone who purchased Tahoe/Yukon, do you have regrets about not getting the longer wheelbase versions? Question could also be asked the other way too.

Note: I currently have a GMC sierra which is the exact same length as a Suburban/XL, so the size wouldnt be new to me
We got my wife a 23 yukon normal length because she was worried about the size. After about 6 months she says she wishes she got the XL. We got her a 25 XL and driving it make no difference in precieved size. But the extra space is nice. No one seems to mention but the rear doors are huge compared to standard length. Im talking. A HUGE difference in door size. Along with a giant cargo capacity even with third row in use.

If your not worried about it fitting inside your garage there are no cons to speak of. It drives better. Has better range as tank is 4 gallons bigger. MPG is the same. And giant space in trunk.

Get the suburban or XL if garage space isnt an issue.

With that said if you find the size to be unwieldy than standard length and XL wont matter because the driving impression itself is the same.

I did!

As for standard length, the Suburban came first! So the standard length is the Suburban and the shorties are those Tahoe! LOL

Yeah, I'm getting old and was around well before there was such thing as a Tahoe!

When I was a kid this was the shorty:

Wheelchair in the back came in handy again! My kinfolk are getting old and it's easier on them to be transported in the Yukon XL than in those little Kias they all own.

I like to think I know things and it was a surprise to me. I only really knew because in our standard length we put those little window shade things on the 2nd row windows for additional shade (they just stick on/off with static) and we put them on diagonally but with the new one the same shade fits length wise with room showing on either side lol.

Then I look it up and its a massive size difference lol. I always assumed the doors were the same between standard and long.

The door difference is the easiest way to tell them apart at a quick glance. Do they cut around the back wheel or are they straight.

The hoe doors aren't a problem at all for people to get in and out of but can be a bit tight getting a dog back there. Our OBS one didn't come with 3rd row option and I left them out of my 04 most of the time so cargo space wasn't an issue. Our 2017 has captains chairs so that gap between them let's things move around too much. I ususlly end up putting stuff on the floor in the back instead.

We are in an area where they make parking spaces too small, all you need is another long vehicle beside you or behind you and you're not getting out. I've been in some lots where you're over the line on both sides and even a small car sticks out so a Suburban... yeah...

This became less obvious in 2015. SORRY - in 2021.

That also means they made the spaces too SKINNY, and not long enough.
