I was wondering the same thing the other day maybe a airbag sensor?? or a option that was capped off because not installed mine is the same way

i was told it's a sensoir for the front end , case you get hit. but you might check with a dealer.

Well, after a few beverages and some searching through http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&vxp=mtr&item=320991403341 <--this, it looks like that is an outside air temp sensor.

Surprised that sumbitch didn't melt or get fried after this summer...
