Am I crazy for holding out for a 6.2 RST?

PulsarLT adjusts the throttle response. May not even need a tune.

It’s all personal opinion, I mean a 6.4 Wagooneer will take the 6.2 any day. If you are getting the 6.2 to be the fastest off the line, sorry you will not be the fastest.

I guess you never tried
I’ve had 3….and it never once occurred to me to help facilitate it. In pickup truck, Denali short, and Denali long…..neither will “spin” the rear tires on dry pavement from a stand still. Might get a little wiggle, but it would take standing on the brake….and I don’t know if it would roast with proper authority. Do what you want with yours!

I"m looking forward to the PulsarLT coming out for this new gen of GM's. Mostly to disable the DFM, but benefits to be had by the other tricks it offers, too.

Yeah so am I. I’m still in shocked that its not out on the 21’s yet. I hate when manufacturers lock their crap. All we need is someone to unlock that and I’m happy to pay to play.

Personal experience

15 Suburban LTZ 2wd 5.3 6spd
Was no slouch did it’s job

18 Yukon XL Denali 4wd 6.2 10spd
Ran like a bat out of hell

21 Yukon XL Denali 4wd 6.2 10spd
Noticeably less quicker then the 18

22 Tahoe Z71 performance package 6.2 10spd
Still not on par with my 18 Denali,

My choice would be wait for a 6.2.
which rear end did you have in the ‘18?

I had the 6.2 in my previous ride (a Silverado) it was nice, but I haven't missed it one bit after swapping to a 5.3 in the Tahoe. What specifically are you looking for beyond the RST trim and a 6.2? Looks like a few of them are on lots near me in MD.

Other than the RST trim and the 6.2, I have no other strong preference for options. I do like the new ‘22 dash but it’s not a make or break.

I haven’t found a single RST with 6.2 available anywhere nation wide that isn’t already pre-sold.

BTW, thanks for the offer to help search. I've done quite a bit of searching and contacting dealers, and I'm pretty confident that there isn't one out there that's available at the moment. There are several that are in transit and pre-sold, more so than there were just a month ago. I've probably followed up with the deal on at least 20 Tahoes nationwide, and I monitor the chevy website daily.

I called around 4 states for 3 days looking for a Denali for my wife…..before finding an allocation through a dealer friend. Wacky market! Things are basically sold prior to order.

Yep, most of what you see that are available are actually orders being fulfilled. Essentially "in transit" means someone has ordered it and it's n the processing of being shipped to the dealer. Unfortunately, not all dealer mark the pre-orders as being in-transit, when they are essentially already sold. So, they look available until you contact the dealer and they tell you they are already sold.

Hell my 2016 6.2 Yukon Denali would roast the tires. It was a rocket ship when running the good fuel.
Back in the day my 97 K1500 vortec 350 once broke the rear end loose on a dry road when downshifting passing a car on a 2-lane. Fun times.

Only con I can give to the 6.2 is that is needs premium fuel. It's not cheap right now either.
In my 2011 Silverado, I have the 5.3 and it's perfectly passable for an everyday driver.

Mine runs fine on 87, convince me otherwise. So does my cadillac

The owner manual says premium gas (91 or higher) recommended, but you can use gas as low as 87 octane with reduced performance and mileage.

Has anyone ever done the math/comparison on the following:

Duramax - Sure, gets better MPG, but diesel is also more expensive than gas. Does the increased MPG offset the increased MPG for gas? Now..not a debate on any of the other benefits of diesel, just curious of MPG only.

6.2l - Like stated above and in the manual..higher octane = performance/better mileage. Performance aside can the mileage be verified to offset the higher price for the 91 octane? i think around here 91 vs 87 will run you 20-30 cents more a gallon.

Diesel is .30 more than RUL, but .60 cheaper than premium where we are. Let say you drive 15k miles a year… mileage guesses are combined city/hwy

6.2 if you are being realistic on combined probably 17 mpg
15k a year@ 3.00 a gal 882 gal=2647.00
with premium @3.90 = 3441.00

diesel @ 26 mpg avg
576 gal at 3.30 a gal=1903.00

even if you skew the mpg# to suit your liking as many will defend, there is enough saved to pay your insurance for a year with money left over even if you run RUL, which I personally wouldn’t on a 6.2….
also diesels regularly get above the EPA estimated mileage as posted on the sticker. Gasoline vehicles rarely make what the sticker posts…

Curious as to how close those numbers are to each of your stickers under annual fuel cost. Mine says $2250 is to be expected. I use mid or 89 on my 5.3.
