If I install an aftermarket alarm will I lose the ability to start my truck via Onstar Link on my IPhone? What if anything else will I lose?

I am looking at an alarm with a two way paging system to monitor the truck at all times. Thanks guys!

I had the Viper 5902 installed a few weeks ago. My remote start, door locks, power liftgate and rear glass release all still work perfectly.

I see no reason to think that remote start through the onstar app will stop working as I believe it uses the factory remote start module to start the truck.

The 5902 has the remote pager and I gotta tell you, I sleep much better these days knowing it is in my truck.

Went out and tried it on mine. My Viper ?3303? 2 way is about a year old. Did not purchase remote start feature but Viper works well. I paid extra for the long range 2 way remote.

Android App Remote Start works ok....BUT...you must turn off the Viper Alarm first or it goes off and then car can't start. If I recall correctly same thing happened when I tried to start it with the GM remote with Viper locked.

All the other remote functions worked ok. But I think you are always going to have the two systems stepping on each other. I seldom/never use the remote start so it is no big deal to me. I always use the Viper remote and only use the Android app to check the gas, etc. when I haven't driven it for awhile.

Testing complete. Neighbors tired of hearing alarm.

I got a viper a couple months ago and they have a similar app where you can start it from your phone.
