About to cross over 100k miles in my 2018 Tahoe Premier 4WD

I'm new to the forum and looking for opinions/advice on keeping my tahoe running smooth for another 100k. I just put new tires on it and I think I need a front end alignment done. I do not have AFM on it yet but do you guys feel it's worth it to do even at 100k?

What else should I be thinking about to keep her running like a top?

plugs, wires, replace all 4 02 sensors, flush ALL fluids

I have 177K miles on my 2016 Tahoe. Still have the original plugs,wires and 02 sensors in it. Still get 24 MPG out on the highway on 87 octane. AFM is still enabled. Runs like brand new. Just had it serviced at Paramus Chevrolet before I head to Miami next week. Surprised the dealer did not try to upsell me anything.

Disabling AFM is a personal call. The longer you keep it, the greater that chances that something will go wrong with it. But, some folks here in the Forum have had good luck with their AFM setups with no issues. Do you feel lucky?

Seriously though, get all of the fluids changed. Oil, transmission, both differentials, transfer case, brake fluid, etc.

And think seriously about having AFM tuned out by a pro. A @BlackBearPerf tune will disable AFM and wake up the engine and transmission, while also prolonging the transmission's life through less converter slippage between shifts. They have tuned both of my Yukon's and I'm about to have them tune my Suburban 3500HD.

Well I've been traveling the last few weeks so finally got to call a local mechanic about the tune up.

He said he would do oil change, differential, change plugs and wires and that's it. He advised against changing the transmission fluid because I wasn't sure if the previous owner had done so every 30k miles, also said changing the transfer case fluid is a waste of money if you aren't using 4wd often (I use 4wd 1/2 times a year)

Quoted that work at $644.16, do yall feel I'm being misled? I was a bit surprised he advised against additional work but also gives me the feeling he's not just doing work to do it.

that's not a terrible price, but just because someone feels it is a waste of money (to them) doesn't mean that it is.
fast food and starbucks is a waste of money to me, but my sister lives on it......

well the car is ready but the mechanic said my shocks were shot and needed to be replaced - $1,500....

I sure agree on that. If the fluid looks even halfway decent I'd pull the pan and filter, refill with new fluid. I'd want to see what's in the bottom of the pan.

Changing fluids when due & not beating on it when cold should keep you running for a long time but the AFM lifter failure can happen at anytime. I had my AFM tuned out for 30K miles but still had a lifter fail. I deleted the AFM with a cam/lifter swap 25K miles ago and sitting at 113K miles on my 2018 Yukon Denail that runs better than new.

I agree with others here about servicing the transmission. I strongly advise changing the fluid and filter - it’s easy preventative maintenance. Good on ya for taking care of the other items - I’d do the transfer case on your own if you feel up to it. Its a very easy drain and fill.

Aside from that - congrats on the milestone
