I was driving in cruse control at about 55 mph when my transmission pump busted. rpm shot up, tapped the brake to disengage, towed it home replaced the pump. now I have a slight rod knock at idle. heaver oil makes knock go away almost completely. Question is will it make sense to drop the oil pan and replace the bearings and pump. I've heard many different answers hope this is a credible option with the vortec, Has anyone ever done this. I replaced rod bearings on a 82 chevy 350 about 15 years ago that knocked much worse than this and it still runs well. appreciate any answers or comments.
