Guys its been awhile. Nice to be back. So heres my issue. Getting ready to install a rebuilt motor in my 97 hoe. But I think Im gonna have to relearn or reprogram the camshaft and crankshaft sensors right? How and where do I go to have this done? Can I wing it myself or do I have to go to Chevy dealer? thanks

I think it needs at least a tech II scanner?
I ended up getting mine done for $50 at a dealership.
I had to have that relearn done with my new BB PCM, not with my new motor?
Unless your changing computers, do you have to do that?

EDIT: Good to see that you didn't sell your truck and it's going to be back on the road! :)

well the camshaft sensor is technically the distributor....u just need to make sure that it is timed right. and the crank sensor, the computer doesnt know if its a new sensor or new engine...

msd help?

hey i see the msd box in the pic. did it help with mileage? i've got an old 6al sitting around but not sure if its really worth putting in the truck as no real performance need..just mileage.

also the mustang looks pretty comfy hanging out in the garage. 66? 289 or a 200?

congrats on the new engine. its like watching your loved one get an organ transplant and extended life.

O the stang...Thats a 66 straight that has a 302 bored out 30 over. Now then, the MSD IS AWESOME. I wouldnt run the hoe without it. Helped with gas mileage and lower end torque/hp. Love the new motor.

Fresh rebuilt 5.7 Vortec. This motor was done by a pro shop out in Michigan. Couple nice goodies on it. Fired it up tonight and it sounded pretty sweet. Cant load my videos for some reason but Ill post up some pics tomorrow when we put the shroud on and double check everything.
