95 yukon fuel gauge

The fuel gauge on my 95 yukon jumps like crazy when the tank isn't fuel, I've changed about 3 clusters and they all do the same thing. Can anyone give me some imput on what might be causing the gauge to act this way?

because in the narrow bodied but long tank in a 4-door there are no baffles. it is sop.

Mine goes nuts too. When you first start it up or being stationary you can get a good reading on your fuel level. Thats what I do.

Only thing I could refer you to is to search for the thread on it. It will take you to GMT400 and a guy put oil in the gauge to settle it down. Sun probably knows the thread Im talking about.

My fuel gauge does the exact same thing...but only below 1/2 a tank. My friends tahoe limited does not do it at all, even with 1/4 tank. I read someplace that the solution to my issue may be nothing more than getting rid of the airtex pump and putting in a new delphi.

delphi are better but they still do it too. the 4 doors have it worse because the have a long fuel tank front to back and it does not have baffle in it.

I have a 2 door and never had a problem with the gauge bouncing around when the fuel inside moved until I had the pump and sender unit replaced last year. Doesn't matter how full the tank is, drives me nuts.....

Any suggestions??

sit still when you are trying to read your fuel gauge with some type of non moving accuracy.

That's what I do. Just don't understand why it's doing the crazy movement when the old assembly didn't.....

Same thing with mine ... Under half tank starts acting crazy .... Didnt do that before just started a few months ago

mine reads pretty well, but when I have about 1/8 of the tank and brake hard, the hoe shuts off. Then I simply throw it in Nuetral and restart after I stop or simply avoid hard stops... hahaha

that's what happens when you shove all the remaining gas up front away from the fuel pump.

I wonder if anyone has ever considered replacing the fuel tank with a newer modern tank with better baffles?!?!?!?!

better baffles?
the 4dr don't have baffle to begin with. come to think about it don't think the 2 doors have them either.

My neighbor is a master mechanic, he said it is almost always the sending unit on a long tank.
