ok, so, you probably saw my post about the projector headlights and stuff i recently put in, well i bought silverstars to put in the housings, because last i checked HID's were pretty expensive, seems they have come down substantially in price since i last bought them last year... so i want to get some HID's for the low beams... but then i have $50 worth of silverstars sitting here with no use, so i was hoping i could put them in the high beam spot with no issues.

9006 are lowbeams... 9005 are highbeams.

if you modify the bulbs you might be able to use em, but they won't work as well.
lower awattage, a differnt focal point and an occluded tip.

thats running 9005s for LOWBEAMS is so popular and works so well.

1000 lumens for 9006 and 1700 for 9005, big downgrade to go to 9006s.
I suppose i should mod another set of 9005s to fit the 9006 housing/plug and pickup about 50% more light. :)

unless I can figure out how to mod the housings like i did on my DSM's plastic headlights... then I'll just convert the plugs so the bulbs stay stock and are easily replaceable.

I've had two sets of silverstar 9005s and one of the 9006s... the silverstar 9006 were so poor that the plain jane $5 9005s were better. I ended up putting them on a car I was selling, just to get rid of them! And this was in 3 different cars that I had 9006s/9005 in.

I converted the plugs, and you can actually squeeze in a 9005 into the 9006 housing without any modding. It's not a perfect fit, but the bulb stays nice and tight in the housing.

I get the occasional high beam flash, but it's always from lowered rice rockets.

Running 9005's is nice. It's my cheap alternative to HID's.

My Denali makes it easy. Runs 9005's in all the lights stock.

At least until I finish my projector retro.

I just have to make things more complicated.
