I bought a 2017 Yukon XL total. I had to replace all of the sheet metal in the front clip including the radiator and core support. I decided since I had to buy headlights I would put in the factory HID setup. When it is dark enough or I manually turn on the low beams the HID fire up and work fine. When I start the engine the low beams turn off along with the fog lamps. The high beams function normally. The specs show halogen bulbs draw 55W and from what I can find HID bulbs draw 35W. I have DTCs that say the right headlamp circuit is open and also that it is shorted to ground. Since the headlights work until the engine is running I think that they are erroneous. Does the BCM sense the difference in current draw and shut them off?

I don't know how that all works, but consider this:

Halogen bulbs will show a closed circuit to the BCM because the the bulb uses a filament to produce light.

HID capsules will show an open circuit because the capsules use an arc across two electrodes to produce light.
