What year? That doesn't sound like a bad deal to me. Since you remove it you can keep what you need. Does this include the harness?

Just do a basic rebuild and you will have a good as new engine. Rings, bearings, oil pump and gaskets at a minimum.

Do 6.0's go for that much? I gave $500.00 for a wrecked truck and sold most of it and just kept the 5.3.

Yea 6.0's definitely go for more than a 5.3. and 550 is a good price. at 200k your going to want to go ahead and rebuild it while its out though. while your at it toss in a few performance parts maybe bore and stroke to 408 lol... that's what I would do.

When I was looking for my old 6.0 it was going to be 1300-1500 for a used motor with under 150k so I think 550 is good. it was running 1600-1800 for a full machine shop rebuild. theres a place that will sell them rebuilt completely assembled 500hp at the crank for $3500 I believe. It was a hot rod shop/machine shop in new mexico I believe.

Note to self: Do not look for a 6.0, they will make you upset with their high price tags...

Yes but do a de compression test . And I would do a freshen up on it.

I would also find a TBSS intake and a LS2 throttle body. I have an extra just FYI.
Also. Your 5.3L heads are smaller and that means the chambers are smaller and flow better.

What part number do you look for to find a TBSS intake. It wouldn't hurt to be on the lookout...

I got it for him off Craigslist. But then he had to have an LS2 throttbody too to pair it up to. He asked me to keep an eye out for one. It was a posting for a TBSS that was being parted out. I also gpt the grill and headlights not thinking that they weren't the same.

Like mentioned earlier, if it's still in the truck and it still runs then do a compression check before pulling it! Otherwise, if good compression and comes with the computer I'd say go for it!

Does it come with all the bolt on stuff like alternator, steering pump, A/C pump, etc? If so, even better of a deal!
