The left side will not unfold. I can pull the lever up as normal, but nothing happens. it will open a few inches, that's it.

any ideas?

Try folding it up and slamming it down, or try to take it out and put it back in

The seat is currently out of the truck. I will try to look for the cable and see if it's hanging or something. I can open the closed seat a few inches, i will try slamming it down as well.

Wardo,

When you were trying to unfold the seat, was it in your truck or did you have it out of your truck when you were trying to unfold it?

edgaranah1,

I will assume that nothing is in the way of your seats; for example a seatbelt? If not, please let me know and I will look into other solutions for you.

Thank you

No there is nothing in the way. This happened to me when I first got the truck but with a little force it folded and worked fine. Until about 2 months ago and now with force it wont even move.

I had that same issue. Thought it was the seat so the dealer gave me a brand new one. Then I had the same issue again. Then I figured that it wasn't the seat. When you put the left side back in you have to actually slam it it to make sure that it is in all the way and then it should work. The right side works super easy but the left side is stubborn. Had the same issue in a Tahoe that I rented 8 months ago.

Make sure the seat is fully latched into place in the truck.
It will not open unless the front and rear of the seat are fully latched into the floor brackets

My seat is fully attached. It wont move although I noticed that when I pull the lever the right side seems to move but the left side of the seat doesnt budge.

edgaranah1,

Have you spoken with your dealership to see if they would replace the seat for you or if they knew of a way to get your seat unstuck?

Thank you,

I had a similar problem with my right third row seat. Except my seat wouldn't come out of the truck. I eventually ended up taking a knife & screwdriver to it. I got it out, forcefully.

This video should help some of you. I had the same problem.
Would be nice if GM would offer more details on this issue so we wouldn't have to go searching on youtube for a solution.

The video above helped for the passenger side but not the driver side.

I found the solution to open both seats that are stuck: To do it, you pull the #2 lever on the seat and make sure both latches underneath the seat closer to the rear of the seat are in the closed position. They are what keep the back of the seat locked in place in the vehicle. When you put these two bottom rear latches in the closed position the seat will open.

mine does the same thing it will only open if I push both the levers at the same time, its a cable issue, I am sure if I pulled it out and took a crack it and adjusted it a little it would work perfectly again I am good at that stuff but lazy lol, if you look inside a follow the cable along you should be able find a spot to make it just a hair tighter and it will start working right after that.

Same issue. Mine was the right side 3rd row. Fought that seat and called it all kinds of dirty names!! It was also middle of summer and hotter than.... well it was pretty hot. So I’m bent over and fighting and cussing and dripping sweat all over the place. Turns out the seat wasn’t fully latched to the floor. It appeared to be but, when I finally calmed down and really looked I could see the front set of latches were not fully engaged. Pulled the seat out and put it back in while paying close attention to the front latches and it worked properly.
Good luck! Hope my sweat keeps you from sweating!
