33's, Please Advise What Gets "Trimmed" I really want to go with a 33 275-285 mm tire to go with my 2/1 inch suspension lift, and am curious to know what exactly gets "trimmed." I really don't want it to look butchered. :893Chainsaw-Smilie-

I've heard sawzalls, zip tires, etc. and would like to know and/or be provided a link to a "how too."

The truck will be used off road, and the idea of rubbing kind of annoys me :emotions122:

Thanks guys :)

Damn that tire is huge...looks more like a 34 inch than 33!!:hands:

I've looked at the pics but sill confused on where the cutting is done, and now the fenderwell is open?

SW CT,
I did not trim any of my fenderwheel plastic...you can trim behind them and then pull the liner back with wire ties.

To the backside of the front wheelwell I did trim a corner of the lower rocker panel in the pinch weld area.

I fit 305/55/20's which are 33" tall/13" wide and I do not rub offroad at all.

Now remember I run a 2.5" CCM spacer up front, for a 2" front spacer I would stick to a 285, 275 wide tire.

Damn those look good. Sorry for being dense, but it is still tough for me to get a perspective; yesterday I was looking at my stock 265 31.7 tires, and notice a half inch at it's closest point (unlifted) to the front fenderwell. I can see where 2 inches of lift will give me maybe 3/4s of an inch before rubbing.

I'm feeling a 32.7 inch 275 mm tire might get away w/o rubbing...

I have a 2" front leveling kit and I run 285/70/17 bfg tires and have no issues at all. I even have mud flaps which make the opening smaller. Plus it all depends on the wheels you run and what offset/backspacing they are. Mine are 17x8 with stock 5.5 backspacing.

I have a CCM 2.5" lift and just had my Nitto Trail Grapplers 295/55/20 installed today. I did not have to trim anything, no plastic...nothing! I was surprised. :boti:

Have you 4 wheeled with it or placed it at severe angles on ramps yet to check for rubbing? Thanks-

I've just tried full lock turns coming up and down some fairly large bumps and ramps, nothing offroad...

My 03' has 285/75r17 on stock rims with the torsion bar turned up a bit maybe an inch. And I haven't rubbed at all in the front. I did just a bit on the back when it flexed a little, but I haven't done any extreme off-roading.
