22inch wheels are too rough

I know what I'm about to say might get me banned from this forum but I think the 22 inch wheels are pointless in this truck and make it a very noticeable ride. Don't get me wrong, the 22 inch wheels with the chrome inserts looks super sexy but I feel something smaller would make the ride a lot nicer. I even asked for the 20 inch wheels and the dealer said it comes with 22's and they can't change them.

I got a 2002 Denali with the stock 17's and the ride feels better. It does sound like I'm in an airplane compared to the 2016 but rhitting bumps feels a lot less noticeable.

The dealerships answer is bogus. When a family friend got her 2015 slt yukon the dealership upgraded her with chrome Denali 20s from the aluminum slt 18s at no charge to sweeten the deal and make a sale. They can swap out any wheel package. Its just a matter of taking it to the service department and swapping them out if they have the wheel you want in stock. As for ride quality I agree bigger rims means a stiffer ride. But that's because theres much less tire and more wheel between the truck and the road. I have a 2006 Denali XL riding on the stock Denali 17s and it rides fantastic. I have a client with a 2005 with oem 20s on it and rides alot differently than my car. Sits up a bit higher and tends to bounce around a little more around corners especially up here on the mountain roads where I live. But the 2005 has sorta mid grade tires on it where I have high end Michelin premier tires on my 2006. I've learned it's about the tire you choose. Both brand and size. The Bridgestone dueler alenza tire that GM puts stock on 22s suck. I Had a brand new set of them on my Denali when I bought it a little over a year ago. Bought my truck from the same GMC dealership that it was sold from brand new and when they took it back as a trade in it needed new tires so they put the bridgestones on it terrible tires. when I swapped out for the Michelins the ride quality changed tremendously. So upgrading on the tire makes a huge difference. And maybe one size bigger than stock to put a little more rubber in between the truck And the road will help too

No doubt, Michelin tires all the way. That's the only tires I've ever put on my 2002. Perhaps a different set of tires on the 22 inch will help but I'm not looking to swap them out just yet.

When it's time to do new tires again I want 20s. And probably oem. Maybe a set off the new SUVs. But will definitely be going with michelins for tires. And definitely a size Or two bigger.

Tires can make a huge difference, you can also go with a little bit more of a sidewall to help cushion. I would agree with Michelin all the way on large wheels.

The first line of suspension on any vehicle are the tires. Normal profile tires have adequate sidewall to provide cushioning. The air chamber of the tire is larger and the ride quality is enhanced by the ability of the tire to flex and rebound. With the larger rims and lower profile aspect ratio tires, you get a shorter and much stiffer sidewall which does absolutely nothing for ride quality. There is usually little to no flex from the sidewall of the tire. It's no big mystery. In most cases you might as well as running Fred Flintstone solid rock radials as the end result is the same.

The Bridgestones ride really rough. I've lowered the psi to 32 all around which helps a little, but I'm going to get Michelins ASAP.

Rides ever so slightly better as we went with thew goodyears (since the bridgestones didn't last more than 37k miles)..........

If I had it to do over again I would have gone with the 20s or even the 18s. *the ride on 22s is not worth any possible performance gain. It's an XL full of people I am not going to be taking corners at speed so the 22s are pointless.

That is really low, do you have any clearance issues?

You wont regret the Michelins. I went with them on my new 22" wheels over the Bridgestones, much better at absorbing highway cracks and small bumps.

I had 22s on my 07 2wd And it was awful. Went to 20s with Michelins and still rides like a tank. Next set will be 18s for sure. I'll trade! I'm in NM.
