I recently bought a 2026 Tahoe HC. It has all the cameras offered. I just today was able to have the recording feature work.
You will need a flash drive (I bought a USB-C). It lays flat in the middle compsrtment next to the driver. I had the car in for an unrelated issue and when they plugged the vehicle in for a scan it must have updated and it does indeed work. Oddly enough the expert salesmen was a surprised as me of the feature....first he saw it actually work,!

I recently got my 2026 Tahoe Z71 and it also has a lot of the cameras so I’ll have to check but from a quick google search I should have the dash cam as well. Would have been nice if they would have put a USB in an inconspicuous spot to use primarily for recording the dash cam. Now the question is, does it record until the flash drive is full or does it automatically rewrite over old videos.

There is an entire Thread on the Connected Camera Feature which includes all the information on the Sound Vision Recording feature.

It depends on your flash drive. I found one on Amazon for 26 bucks that has 128 GB, and is pretty low profile USB-C
. It will keep recording even if full. It will overwrite the oldest entry as needed.

I got one and it works! Glad to hear it’ll overwrite old videos. Thanks!

It will constantly over write old files that are NOT protected. If you have an event that trips the G meter, it will save that video. I drove up through Ohio once and the interstate was so rough it kept tripping my camera. It will also save video that you manually record. Anything else get over written.

I'm doing a product review for a dash cam that I may post somewhere here on the forums.

Anyone know how to manually save a video so it does not get overwritten?

The best thing about dash cameras is it can establish the fact that the dash camera OWNER was at fault in a traffic accident.

Huh? Are you insinuating that someone else could use the video against you?

I hope so. Any ****** that hits me and lies about it the video should be available as evidence no matter whose car was recording it. . Send all the video to GM in the cloud and subpoena it. Eventually it will be that way.

Hell yeah I have a dash cam in every vehicle I own.

I’m a little jaded on this topic because I get hit on average once every 2 years.

About a year ago an uninsured driver side swiped my wife and tried to take off. Luckily another driver boxed him in and he couldn’t leave. Allstate is still trying to get money from him but it’s a lost cause.

4 months ago a cell phone using ass hat rear ended by hellcat. Caused 12k in damage and now I’m in the process of filling a diminished value claim, etc.

Also my old tahoe got hit by a drunk driver while it was parked. Luckily there was some camera footage the police were able to get and he was arrested.

I have more…….

I want the convenience of a dash cam, but without all the bulky windshield gear that would even remotely obstruct my view.

put it on the passenger side of the rear view mirror, you will never see it.
3 times I have been in accidents and all 3 times the other party lied (or the insurance tried to place blame on me) and my video's proved otherwise......

Then go for something like this.
Thanks for the advice. I may have to pick up this one. It's not obtrusive, and blends in perfectly with the factory plastics. One thing I am curious about is the SSD card, and if it can be upgraded to the 256GB or 516GB card.

Yes the Micro SD card can be upgraded, I currently run the 256GB card. You also can get a small adapter that you insert the card into and plug it into your phone to view the recordings should you ever need to (in case of vehicle battery failure). You can also see the recordings via Bluetooth on the phone.

I just typed a reply but had to delete it because I thought your post was in regard to the 2026 built in camera like this thread is talking about.

You guys need to make your own thread on that other add on model. This thread is getting off.
