So as the title states we have a 2025 AT4 Ultimate with the diesel powertrain (LZ0) with 1800 miles on the odometer. My wife went to pick up my son from school the other day and had to wait about 10 to 15 min while idling with a ambient temperature in the 80s. Then drove about two miles to grab the kids some food and sat idling in the drive thru for another 10 min. While sitting in the drive thru a warning on the dash came on saying "Transmission Hot idle Engine". She pulled up the temp gauge screen and the trans temp read 270°F. She got out of the drive thru line and turned the vehicle off, let it cool off and drove it home without any issues (slipping or hard shifting). I drove the vehicle to the dealer today (29 miles) with no issues from the transmission, but the other fluid temps were high towards the end of the trip. This was under normal highway driving at 65 to 70mph with ambient temps in the 80s.
Oil temp got to 230°F normal is 195-220
Coolant temp got to 221°F normal is 190-220

Why would a brand new vehicle with less than 2000 miles have such high operating temps? If anything over 230°F for the 10L80 transmission is considered overheating and detrimental why would the vehicle be programmed to not give a warning until 270°F.

Final note... all break in procedures were followed per manufacturers recommendation. An oil change was done at 630 miles with an oil analysis that came back normal.

Welcome to the Forum from NH.

Lots of knowledgeable folks here who freely share their knowledge, experiences, and perspectives. Knowledge is power.

I hope that you will become a participating member in the Forum's discussions.

Pics of the truck, please.

I've not heard about this one. As such, I cannot personally assist you with your issue, but other members of this Forum much more knowledgeable than me in this area will chime in. Otherwise, it may be time to let the dealer take a look at it under the warranty.

Here is what my 2025 Yukon with the LZ0 after driving 20 miles and second one after arriving home and sitting at idle for 6 minutes...the pic with the 192 trans temp is the one after sitting idle, the trans temp actually went down while idling. Outside ambient temp was 100

Thanks for the input and the comparable information, I really appreciate it.
I contacted the dealer yesterday and the ecu had a U0102 code on it.
"Lost Communication with Transfer Case Control Module"
@genestoy those coolant and oil temps seem like they are on the very high end of normal limits.

I would also be concerned about the 13.2 MPG Average Fuel Economy as well!

You have a Diesel and unless this thing was idling in gear for a LONG time and the vehicle has not driven anywhere since the Fuel Economy Average was reset something is off here.

My 6.2l gas Yukon has a Lifetime Average Fuel Economy of I think 17.6 MPG.

Something is clearly wrong and it seems the temperatures may be somewhat in agreement?

The Diesel has an external transmission cooling thermostat. I also recall a GM bulletin about kinked cooling lines in the back of my mind. I will see if I can find out if this is a correct recollection.

Yes my wife was sitting idling waiting to pick my son up and then sat in a drive thru for a while. We took a trip out to Palm Springs and got 31mpg.
I understand the temps being high when it's 100 plus out, but the day this happened it was 82°F outside and she was idling.
I'm still waiting to here back from the dealer, but I'll post something when they get back to me.
Thanks everyone!
