Your concerns on the extent of the work and dealer service capability are valid. This type of disassembly can have irreversible side affects on the long term fit, finish, NVH (Noose Vibration Harshness) of the interior.
There are so many plastic clips fasteners and hardware keeping these plastic parts together correctly. A couple broken clips and tabs and all of a sudden the interior on your “one year” old rig now has new noises, creaks, and vibrations. Unfortunately, some of the noises, creeks, and vibrations may not show their ugly face immediately after the work is done, but instead miles later after things have had a chance to “loosened up” due to the lack of a broken clip/tab. And by that time do you think any dealer service department is going to take accountability for it? No….
Do you think any dealer service tech is going to fess up; “Hey I broke this clip/tab during disassembling the dash to perform this known issue repair service bulletin. We should probably get a new one of these parts before reassembly.” Said no service tech ever…
