2021 Tahoe High Country/93 octane or not?

Only speaking to vehicles built prior to 2016..

General Motors, premium gas is required only in vehicles like the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 and the Corvette Z06, with their supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engines. Even the big Cadillac Escalade recommends, but does not require, premium fuel.

In fact, more than 90 percent of the company’s products are calibrated for regular gasoline, according to Bill Studzinski, G.M.’s engineering group manager for fuels. “We have always said, ‘Don’t put more octane in your tank than the owner’s manual requires,’” he said.

That said, I dont, but I do use Mid-Grade, or Non-Ethanol

I would recommend using what the manufacturer recommends for fuel octane.

In the Northeast, 93 octane gas is typically 75 cents or more in price over 87 octane.

I just heard on the radio that there is a gas station in Mendocino, Ca., that is charging $6.73 a gallon for regular.

If the knock sensors kick in, your fuel economy will suffer. It's really cheaper to run premium.

The octane that is offered can depend on the elevation; higher elevation = lower octane. Our low here at a mile high is 85.

Nope, tested with 93 for about 2k miles or so and the increase in MPG was not worth the extra cost of 93.

Around town which is 90% of our driving the MPG increase was about 5% but the cost is around 30% more. HWY was about 9% better MPG. And no noticeable performance changes.

I do have a CAI on it but not the CAI tune.
