2021 Sierra wheels-2009 Tahoe

I was able to buy some 2021 - 275/60/20 wheels and tires , wheels are 20x9 stock from a Sierra. They told me these will fit in my 2009 Tahoe. Anyone tried this?

A friend of mine just put new silverado wheels on his 13 denali and they worked fine. He did wheels only and put 275/55/20 tires on them. They look great, not sure on the larger tire size though

I've noticed a ton of factory take-off wheels coming up for sale on craigslist and FB marketplace as people bought brand new rigs over the past few years and go right to aftermarket wheels. The factory tire size for the 20" wheels is 275/60/20 instead of the 275/55/20 that our generation truck came with. I've wondered the same thing and don't know for sure.

Update: They'll fit but they're right at the limit so they rub for some and not for others. Some say they don't like the ride with the 60s.

275/60/20 fit Denali?

Does anyone know if this tire will fit 2013 stock denali without mods? The tire is 33 inches tall vs 31.9 stock. My denali is awd. Have some concern about rubbing but would like to upsize slightly to a tire 1" taller

Interesting thought. I’ve never heard anyone say they didn’t like the ride quality on a 60 series tire mounted to a GM 20 inch wheel. When I first stepped up to 20s I just picked up a few used Michelin LTX M/S2 tires in the stock 275/55 tires for my 2006 Denali. And after a few months I decided I wasn’t thrilled with the ride on 20s, and while the stock size wasn’t bad I felt it could be better. So I stepped up to the 60 series and after playing with a couple different setups I came back the 275/60 size. I love the ride quality. I don’t feel all the little tiny imperfections in the road nearly as much and I feel the taller sidewall handles better on the mountain roads. Of course now with the defender LTX in a 275/60 series on my wheels I can’t complain at all lol.

Yeah seemed counterintuitive to me too, but there it is. I wonder how camper towing dynamics would be with the 60s.

I towed summer of 2021 on my Michelin LTX A/T2 s that I had before the defenders and those were a 275/65 tire that came off a ford F350. Pulled an 18 foot travel trailer weighing in about 4,000lbs. Granted I only had to tow it like 20 miles from the owner we rented from down to just south of San Clemente, ca. truck and tires did just fine with that on both street and the little bit of highway driving we did.

I understand boats and travel trailers handle differently behind a vehicle, but I do a fair bit of boat towing. I pull a 4300lb sea ray V-hull up and down the mountain for a close family friend. Usually 60-70 ish miles each way. Lots of different road driving scenarios happening between the mountain roads, the city streets and traffic and the California freeways I have to take down into Orange County with the bait and back up the mountain, and the truck handles pretty well on the 275/60 defenders with the boat in tow. Pretty stable. A little stiffer ride with the boat hooked up but no complaints.

Thank you, that’s very helpful. I’ll keep an eye out for a nice set at a reasonable price and won’t shy away from the 275/60/20 size.
