My 2020 Tahoe compressor starts immediately but the supply air is not cold for about 2 or more minutes. Once the air gets cold it is very cold so I assume no issues with the compressor or refrigerant. Is there a sensor that might causing this delay in cooling?
No sensor that i know of that will delay cooling however, i would make sure the temp for the a/c is at the lowest possible setting and as stated I would not have recirculated air button pushed at first especially in hot or humid climates. As hot as it is outside its hotter inside the vehicle so the system, when in recirculated mode, is trying to cool and replace the extemly hot interior temps as opposed the hot outside temps. Believe it or not it makes a difference.
Also when the system is in auto mode it automatically puts recirculated air on and depending on where you left the temp dial it will automatically cool the truck to that specific temp and when it reaches that temp it will slow the fan down.
What i try to do when its disgustingly hot in my area is dump the temp all the way make sure recirc is off and drop all the windows 6-8 inches to let the hot air out and get the air moving inside the vehicle. Even better is if you can open the windows fully and remote start it a few minutes before you actually take off. This way it pushes the hot stagnant air out and the a/c can perform better.
I use the auto setting in all my vehicles and rarely touch fan speed, but as soon as im in the vehicle i switch off recirc and then i raise or lower the temp dial to suit my needs and only when the vehicle is cool inside do i switch recirc back on…
I always thought and still think the a/c in my 19 yuk den sucked compared to my other cars/trucks. My 99 tahoe, as well as the 01 and 13 would freeze you to death if you let it. My 17 accord however took a while to cool down and i felt it didn’t move air so well to the point that i put a new fan motor in it and changed the cabin filter every time i changed the oil, but the 08 and the 24 accord both had/have kick *** a/c.
Dump the temp, have recic off, crack the windows and see what that does for you. If you still feel it takes a while to cool off have a shop you trust check the charge of the system….
Oh and all my cars are black with black interiors so that dont help me a single bit…
My 2 cents
