2019 Console Plate help

Has anyone removed and replaced this piece of the console? If so, does it snap out without removing any other trim, and is there a special prying tool that's needed, or just yank it out? I have a 2019 LS Custom with no heated seats. Any advice would be appreciated before I break something taking it out. There are no repair manuals available for 2019's yet so I have no clue what holds it in. It is the piece that surrounds the cup holders under the climate controls. Thank You.

Should be the same as 2015-2018. What's the reason you are wanting to remove it?

I spilled something on it and it ate into the top layer of finish. I can't seem to find any info on the removal process. I don't know if other panels need to come off first or if I can just remove and replace this while leaving everything else intact. I don't want to pry it off if something else needs to be removed first and break something.

Start from bottom up, the 2 wood panels pop off, then screws under cup holder rubber etc etc but yeah like above 15-19 all the same.

There lies my problem, I can't find on the internet anyone doing this on a 2015-2019 Tahoe/Suburban. The video is of a 2014 Sierra which is similar but not the same piece. If there is something different on the 2015+ Tahoe and I just start prying I'm concerned I'm going to break something. The other post mentions screws under the cup holder, I don't have any screws that I can see under the rubber. There are lots of videos online changing out the console door but I can't find step by step instructions on if there is an order of parts removal to get this out. In looking at it it seems like it should come out like the 2014 Sierra but the side panels are different and without putting my eyes on it I don't know if there are tabs holding it behind any of the other pieces. I don't want to start prying on it until I can find someone who has removed this exact piece on a 2015 plus Tahoe/Suburban. The one video I did find had the guy replacing some other part but he removed practically all the dash panels before getting to this. I don't know if that is necessary to just remove this as he was I believe removing the section above it also. I am pretty good at Googling and I can't find what I'm looking for, which is why I figured my chances were better on this site which is year and vehicle specific. Thanks.

From another post on here that I found. This is what I was thinking, there might be tabs behind stuff that is gonna break if you don't know the procedure. I ordered a repair manual from 2015-2017 hoping it's abouth the same. Going to be some time before I receive the manual and the part so maybe someone on here that has done this will chime in before then. Thanks.

+1 on removing the console. No screws, but you'll have to take the driver's side dash end piece off by the fuse box (all clips - just pull from bottom), and the bottom piece below the steering wheel (4 screws - I believe torx, and a good yank), and then do as stated above, starting to pull up from the rear.

The unfortunate need for removal of the other parts is because there's a flare/flange thing on the driver's side that is behind the lower dash - that piece is not on the passenger side, so you don't need to take that side apart. Once you get it off, though, you can dremel the aforementioned flare/flange thing off since it is hidden and doesn't really serve to secure it in any way, and you'll be able to get it off much easier if you need to in the future.

Anyway, once you get it off, you'll see the mechanism for the cover. Hope this helps.

The irony of your comment...they took mine out and it’s out of alignment. Haven’t had the opportunity to take it back and have it corrected.

most dealerships are just screwing thier mechanics anyway paying by the job now so they are all in a rush trying to get paid what they should be getting paid. and us the end consumer get the shit end of the stick when we get handed comments like that.

Well I received the part. I can now see that the drivers side of the part has a tab that sits behind the lower dash panel where the hood release is, so I will have to pull that and another panel by the door off to remove the console top. I was hoping to be able to just remove the part I have to replace but that won't be the case. I just wanted to disturb as little as possible because I hate squeaks and rattles which I'm hoping removing all this stuff won't create. I'll find that out tomorrow!

Exactly, and why they are struggling to keep mechanics and hire new ones.

I think the orange pieces are some kind of safety locks that need to come off first then the plug can be untabbed and pulled apart????

I'm thinking that too but nothing wants to move and it's delicate little plastic crap that I can see snapping right off. Everyone of these things are different and I'm sure it takes 5 seconds if you know where to pull/push.

The frustrating thing is in all the videos you see nobody ever goes into how to separate these things. They just gloss over it by saying just unplug the connectors. I guess I am dense, but I don't feel like breaking anything here. I will have to wait until I can get a hold of my friend who will probably unplug it in a few seconds.
