Unless I'm missing something, there are only actual dyno results for a couple of these. The rest are general statements or manufacturer estimates.

So out of these is there one that BlackBear will say performed the best. (I did look at the results but you guy have a different perspective than what we get.)

For example, recommendation of one with or with out a tune.

Based on the data and results, the guys would NOT recommend a Volant without a tune. With a tune, it may have been as powerful or more than the others, but that comparison was not made (would have taken days to get that completed for each intake). The engine was pinging audibly with that intake and driving around, throttle response would have been very "off". The aFe and full Airaid systems performed very well and had great fit/finish and would be the top two contenders, with or without a tune.

This is awesome work!! I think even us 5.3 guys can gain some knowledge from these test results. I just wish the GM version of the performance CAI would have made the list.

I need to go look into buying some AFE stock because their product is gonna be flying off the shelves now....

Thanks again JennaBear!

We only tested some of the intakes we sell. With well over $2000 in parts alone, we had to keep the list to the most popular intakes our customers are running.

Nicely done.

Perhaps a silly question but I'm a bit of a noob. Is doing a CAI duplicative, and not a smart use of the cash, if I'm anticipating doing a blower like the Whipple in the not too distant future?

I've been running the Volant intake and Borla s type for over a month without issues. I even noticed better MPG. Should I be concerned about it being too lean? The dealership did hook the truck up to their computer after the install was done.
