What exactly is the HMI video/nav unlock? Is it a gadget I have to remove from behind my head-unit that is sent back to the company to get reprogrammed or is it something entirely new that is plugged into my existing head-unit?

Are there any instructions anywhere as to how to install the HMI video/nav unlock? How difficult is it to do, or will I need a professional to install it?

Thank you!

By the way, Amazon has for sale an HDMI to RCA composite converter box that runs on USB power. I have been using it in my Honda Pilot Touring mirroring my iPhone to my head-unit and RES. This device may eliminate the green bar that many are experiencing. Also with this setup, and an Apple lighting digital AV adapter, you can mirror your iPhone without soldering, and keep everything tidy hiding in the main console.

I have not tried this yet on my Tahoe, because I'm taking delivery of it tomorrow. YEAH!

Here's a linke for the converter box.

They reflash the module located in the glove box so you have video in motion and can enter address in the gps. Anything that was greyed out before while driving is now available. It's similar to lock pick device except there are no extra parts to install. They ship you the reflashed module and you swap it out and send back your original module. I'm in the que for mine - install is apparently a few tor screws and plug and play wiring - 20 minutes or so.

I am enjoying my unlocked hmi unit. It has always worked easy to install. I went through anthony as well and he was knowledgeable and helpful though the process. Waiting and shipping do take patience as they have only so many unlocked hmi at anyone point.

Is there anyway to have some video options on the model without the navigation? I have a touch screen and bluetooth just not nav. Its a 2015 LT. I would like to be able to mirror my phone to the screen and also be able to play movies from my phone or SD card......

Thanks in advance!!

maybe anthony can throw in a nav for you while he is at it. His website is "GM Navigation.com"?

Cool. This is basically the same solution we're talking about in the other thread here (see the last few pages):

Similar converter, RCA to HDMI. Just make sure that you buy the right cable for your phone - HDMI on end of the cable and whatever connector your phone takes on the other.

That suck ... you would expect faster service not unless it is back ordered from their supplier. either way they should compensate you.

Question... I ordered a a face plate with HDMI and USB similar to yours. I removed the back cover. Where you mount your face plate (between the 4 torx screws) there is no room. Did you dremel the back to make room ? My face plate from the back sticks out little less than an inch.

So I swapped the white plastic HDMI - RCA converter for the one photios recommended - the metal black one. Green line is gone and picture seems to be a bit more clear.

Now if I can get sling box to stopped shrinking into the corner when I press zoom, I'll be all set!

Where did you get the converter?

And to the other post... Yes I had to dremel the back.
