Hi,
Not sure I am in the right place, but with all of the high ampere amplifiers in vehicles today, I thought I would ask. I have a 2009 Yukon SLT with Tow Package, and have a separate winch battery in the rear to power a boat trailer Power Winch, and would like to be able to use the vehicle to keep the rear battery charged.
The last time I loaded my boat onto the trailer, the male-to Male Cigarette Lighter cord got hot, so I disconnected it from the winch battery. Does anyone know the amp rating of the rear cigarette lighter jack? I don't want to fry my wiring harness.
I connected the trailer jack power wire under the hood to make the 12 volt supply hot, and now have the 12 volt trailer jack functional. What is the ampere rating of this? I purchased a trailer jack adapter which has a cigarette lighter jack in hopes of using the power source to keep the winch battery charged, so I could use the adapter, running a cable from the trailer connector to the winch battery inside.
