I have a 2007 Denali that has the factory navigation/back up camera. A few months ago the navy unit stopped switching to the camera screen when you put the car in reverse.

This is not the common issue of getting the black reverse screen with the warning and no video input. Instead it is as if the nav unit doesn't sense the car going into reverse and never even changes to the "camera screen"

Did someone turn off the backup camera feature in the system's menu? Sometimes passengers/kids play with things they shouldn't. Did you have the battery disconnected a few months ago and it defaulted to having this feature turned off?

I was hoping for something that simple as I do have kids

It wasn't turned off when I checked so I toggled it off and on a few times but it hasn't made a difference.

Damn. That was my best guess. Sorry and good luck!

*Edit

Maybe it needs a "hard" reset? I recall a hidden menu being accessible, but I don't know what all the options in there are. A quick search turned up this. Maybe it'll help:
