The guy came to look at just now, with his wife, and he likes it and so does she. They SAID would be back with a certified check for the $10k and $1025 more for the parts and fluids purchase for the work he wants me to do. I told him that labor is extra and would be somewhere between 10-12 hours for the hard parts plus whatever labor it takes for the fluid changes on top of that.

We shall see if he actually shows up. The guy has a hard time getting around because of age and weight. He struggled getting in the truck but loved the feel when he did get in.

I just talked to the buyer. He is not going to take the vehicle when he drops off the cert check tomorrow morning. I want that check to clear and make sure is good, so I told him that I can order parts at RA, get fluids at AZ and start on the fluid changes now and by time I am done, the RA parts will start trickling in. So, he does not get the truck till I make sure I got the cash and I can lock in on all the parts and get the work started.

Easy work I just did the valve covers on the 05 yesterday, hardest part was that last inside bolt on the passenger side coil pack bracket, takes a small 10mm box wrench, when I had it off I sprayed the bolt hole with wd40 and worked the bolt in and out a few times to make reassembly easier, bolt went back in super easy with finger tips and a couple ugga ugga's with the box wrench to snug it down.
transmission dipstick is in the way and it's a tight spot against the firewall but doable.

I have a set of stubby flex head ratcheting combination wrenches, in metric and standard. Plus I have a very stable two step I can stand on when reaching in there. Good call on the thread clean out for reassembly ease.

You or your bank can easily verify a certified check by contacting the issuing bank (but NOT using the phone number on the check -- find the real one). If the issuing bank is local, cash it there.

Highly recommended to thwart any potential fraud. If the issuing bank isn't local, I'd have your bank do it as you present it for deposit.

Yea, if the check is local, I will go there. If I cannot cash there, I will go to my bank and deposit. Either way, the title is not gonna be signed over till the cash is in my hand. The truck is staying here anyway, till RA parts come in and I get all fluids changed and all parts installed. He is also paying me to inspect the brakes and drivetrain. I told him I did not get that far before my girl said a big fat NO to the truck. This is a very strange scenario.

1. I see the ad and ask about it by phone and am told a guy is coming the next day at noon to look and buy.
2. I show that night and drove it, inspected as best as could and made a cash deal.
3. The seller finds out about my qualifications and I have already done work on his 1999 GMC Yukon 4 door and he paid me cash.
4. I find out my girl does not want the truck.
5. I tell the seller and he says he has the other buyer's phone number.
6. The other buyer calls me and arranges to come today to look at and buy the truck.
7. We strike a deal for what I paid for the truck.
8. New buyer fins out my credentials because the original seller tells him.
9. He asks me to go over what I have found and fix it and complete inspection and fix that too.
10. I am a happy camper because I am also now gonna get the new title money, new keys and fobs money, full gas tank money and make more on top of that.

I asked the original seller, he was at my place today about his 99 Yukon for more work, if he has ever heard of a scenario like I just laid out. He said there can't have ever been this scenario anywhere in the US of A. I tend to believe him.

If you simply deposit it, the check can bounce; best to proactively have your bank verify funds availability before depositing. You have no idea when the check would clear, unless your bank somehow lets you know.

Ok, I get that. I always do deposits or withdrawal in person and I will ask them. The title will not be signed over to him till I get the money. I am also keeping vehicle for my work but the money will clear before that.
