2004 Yukon XL SLE TPMS Options

Hi there folks,

I think the existing Sesnors are original equipment, so 21 years old !
All 4 tires are leaking at the Valve stems.
It looks like there are service kits available for that problem.
Rock Auto has these kits DORMAN 609104
We keep seeing the Service Tire monitor message over and over.
Since the Sensors have wee lithium batteries I am pretty sure they are over their Best Before Dates...
Question: Can these batteries be changed or are they sealed and a new Sensor is the only option ?

The batteries are not easily replaced. When I got my Hoe at about 90k miles, three of the sensors had been changed to rubber stemmed ones, which I like better than the metal ones. Later on I had to replace that remaining sensor that had the aluminum stem.

Autel makes sensors with either metal or rubber stems, and they do have a tool -- and some of their scanners -- to do the initial programming that sets the frequency, etc. [MX 1-Sensor (M) or (R) suffix for metal or rubber]. Buying them singly runs about $30 each, with slight discounts for buying a 4-pack. There are places that will sell you programmed sensors so you're ready to install them.

I know you probably won't go out and buy a tool to program them but look here to see what they have. If you can install them perhaps a tire shop or another shop could program them for you. When they do that they can also set the sensors' positions (LF, RF, etc.).
