Picked up a used 2004 Tahoe z71 from my sister for $1,000 back in February. I am a Scoutmaster for my sons troop and wanted a bigger vehicle to pull the trailer and hold more kids. My daily is a ‘05 Jeep Liberty.

2004 z71 with 164k

Has some type of lift, assuming keys and an aluminum spacer in the rear.

Now I knew it needed 4 ball joints, but didn’t realize how bad. Ended up loosing a passenger upper while driving.

Of course this added to the parts needing replaced.

I also swapped out the bug shield and front visors for some unbroken ones.

Picked up a doorman radio kit to redo the stock radio.

Had to put amber bulbs in the corners and replace the license plate lights to finish getting a inspection sticker.

Still on the list:

Rear brakes
Rear bumper
Rear hitch
Rear shocks
Backup camera
Air bags for the springs (depending on how it hauls the trailer with 7 people in it)
Replace driver seat lower cover

Driving the trailer around yesterday to get it ready for summer camp Sunday. After getting it home, had the Drivers front caliper sticking to the point of a smoking rotor.

Luckily since I just did the brakes less then 30 days ago, I warrantied out the pads and rotor and replaced the Caliper with a reman.

Driving it today and tomorrow to make sure theres no issues, then off to camp on Sunday.
