I’m currently running the stock rims and tire on my 2002 Yukon and they are at the end of their life. I’m wondering if a set of rims and tires 255/70/18 would fit without rubbing. The rims have the same bolt pattern but I would need to add a hub centric ring which wouldn’t be an issue.

Yes. They are just barely narrower and taller. 1/2" taller meaning 1/4" greater radius, all other things equal.

As long as they are not super wide offset then you will have no issues whatsoever.

If you want to more closely match the overall diameter of your stock tires, a tire with a 65 aspect ratio would be closer than a 70.

I run 2015 Silverado 18x8.5" wheels with 265/65/18 tires and they're slightly taller than the stock 16" wheels and tires.

A 65 aspect ratio with the same width (255/65r18) would be nearly identical in size difference. Half inch smaller instead of larger.

A 265/65r18 would be exactly identical to stock 265/75r16s in both height and width.

Z71 off-road package came factory with 17" rims and 265/70 R17 all-terrains.

I just bought a set of Cooper AT3 4S. The fact sheet shows diameter in inches to be 31.4 inches. Great riding tire! Now that I finally have a new set of tires that are severe snow rated, we have had no snow all winter!!!!

No rubbing, as that was stock. Also one of the two default sizes in Tech 2 scan tool for setting tire size in the computer for speedometer/odometer calibration.

When I compared the stock tires (with good tread) to the 18s, the new ones were maybe 1/2" taller overall. Just slightly bigger than stock. Obviously that can vary by tire model.

Probably a tread wear difference if one set was new, but also some manufacturing difference as you mentioned.

I am currently running 265/70r17 on stock snowflakes.. going to be putting 18" wheels on and can't decide between 275/65r18 or 265/70r18 for a set of michelin defenders. The size difference is small, the price difference is bout $90

On my 2001 Y-SLT 4WD I replaced the OEM chrome steel 16’s with mint ole’ skool machined aluminum 18’s, and Michelin Defender LTX 275/55-18’s. Got a good deal on the wheels … tires cost 4X the price of the wheels! To me this is the ideal rugged road cruising setup. Diameter is a near-perfect match by math and speed measured by GPS is dead-nuts match vs dash speedometer once the rubber wears down a little.

I’m currently running the stock rims and tire on my 2002 Yukon and they are at the end of their life.
I’m wondering if a set of rims and tires 255/70R18 would fit without rubbing.
The rims have the same bolt pattern but I would need to add a hub centric ring which wouldn’t be an issue.
When I bought my '02 Tahoe Z71 a year ago, it came with 265/65R18.
The wheels were OE GM RPO UHN: 18" x 8.5". No hubcentric ring of any kind needed.

Sitting still on the ground, 0.5" clearance or less between the tires and the wheelwells when the wheels were turned fully left or fully right.
Hit a bump mid-turn, however, occasional evidence of the tires' corners making light contact with the wheelwells.

That's actually why I switched from 265/65R18 (31.56" tall) to 255/70R18 (32.05" tall).
Now it's 1.5" clearance or more, everywhere.

Here's my favorite simple tire calculator:

I use Tire Size Calculator they show side but side and rpms, Marky is that backwards? I'm running 265 65 18 and they are same as 265 70 17 no rubs.

When I bought this '02 Z71, it came with 265/65R18 (31.56"). Driven normally, no rub.
The way I drive (I'd've preferred a PPV), OCCASIONAL rubs at full steering lock.

My RPOs show it originally came with 265/70R17 (31.60"), by the way; no experience with these.

255/70R18 (32.05") does not rub because, at full lock, the tires' 'corners' are a lil bit further away from the body.

Given how little I offroad (presently) I'm considering 235/60R18 (29.10") or 255/55R18 (29.04").
I'll likely decide this November.

I upsized my 2001 from 16” to 18” wheels and 275/60R-18 tires and the speedometer is absolutely dead nuts on, measured with GPS.
