2001 wiper arm replacement?

Pretty sure I bent a wiper arm somehow, I bought some replacement good old China specials from Napa and the holes do not have splines. I saw mixed answers and was wondering if you ‘create’ your own splines when installing or if they should be returned. Anyone who has done this some info would be appreciated! Thanks

I bought a new GM OE wiper arm for my '04 not long ago. They don't have splines when new, and are apparently a bit softer so the splines are cut when first installed.
