Alright caught up to october last year now ahah. Surf City Soundoff/IASCA north american finals. A great yet not great weekend for the tahoe. Met up with the team and the DC Audio Bassburban that friday.
IMG_7142[1].JPG

So the Good part of the weekend....
Saturday i was able to get into the lanes and do my runs early.
156.03DB In IDBL which is now the personal best(just a burp with the bass)
Also destroyed my previous bass boxing runs (30 second DB averages on music)
sealed run- 154.42DB
driver door open run- 154.62DB
Both front doors open run- 151.62DB
Average of 153.55DB
ended up taking 3rd in those classes which i was happy with for my first time competing in finals.
and finally got the trophys from 2020 lol
IMG_7154[1].JPG
IMG_7153[1].JPG

And the bad... my subs decided they were done. luckily made it through the last rounds of competing before this happened. oh well they had 4 VERY hard season of audio they dont owe me nothin! hah.

the center two blew out the surrounds as you can see, but upon further investigation the other 4 also were ripping.

Didn’t realize I was yelling, my hearing aids were turned down. Damn dog playing tricks on me again. :p

My now favorite picture of the Tahoe from surf city

Trophies finally came from finals in Alabama. 3rd place I was okay with the guys who got first and second had a lot more powerful/bigger builds than me. I’m just glad I was able to hang somewhat haha

Steve Meade noticed my fuse block was getting old on a ig post so he sent me the updated fuse block for free which was pretty damn cool!

I did find out that the Tahoe still can drive in snow safely. Even on low pro street tires. Obviously was very careful low speed but I made it around town alright plowing here and there lol

As you can see here after gluing the surrounds I clearly kept beating on my subs(still do) hah. And did not realize this one had loose motor bolts. Well long story short noticed it moving a lot, got lucky the motor is still good and didn’t drop far since my ports are right there. So 5 subs it has been until I get them re coned.

Surprisingly enough it still plays fairly well being down a sub.

My dad has always wanted a nova. A friend of a friend Had this 64 in southern oregon. 70k original miles, restored, fully built sbc 400 with a b&m 144 blower and fitech efi, 9” rear end with posi, th400 trans, hydro boost rack & pinion etc etc. we made a trip down there to look at it.

Unaware of the fact it came with about 15k worth of spare parts, and a shit load of paperwork including the original purchase order, every title it’s ever had, the original plates and plate frames, and the letter from Chevrolet thanking the couple for their purchase back in 64. Got it for a super good deal So that’s been a fun car to cruise the past couple months for him… and me the couple times he was dumb enough to let me drive it

My dad is impatient…wonder where I get it from hmmm. He put these wheels on the car for now to get rid of the Porsche wheels that were on it. The reasoning behind those wheels was that the rear end needs to be narrowed still so not much tire can fit unless it’s on a very high offset wheel. The car already has traction issues and he sacrificed a inch of tire to fit these wheels. Which they do look a lot better but hopefully this winter we will get the rear end narrowed and a fatter tire back on it.

Also got a forever sharp steering wheel in there

When gas started sky rocketing I finally got my civic cleaned up a little and fixed some small issues it had. 37 mpg free shitbox with working ac is alright by me haha.

Well if anyone noticed me saying I stepped away from audio stuff this season this is why. After sitting for 7 years it was time to give the ol 69 some love. This build thread is meant for the Tahoe though so I wasn’t gonna blow it up with my truck lately but this is what I have been working on. Now it’s about done…well kinda done. I can get further into the details on it if anyone wants me too. Hopefully get back to the Tahoe soon it’s been super neglected the past few months besides getting a oil change hahaha.

As far as the c20 goes I have been casually throwing parts in the bed and cab over the past few years. Building the Tahoe took over any chance of me working on it.

I had a good buddy pass in a car wreck 5 years ago. Talked to him a couple days before. We were close with our love for old rusty slammed trucks. And talked about we both needed to get ours back on the road. The grille that is on my truck came from him and idc if this thing is fully restored and perfect one day I will not change that grille. I had a memory on Facebook come up with him and I and it really kicked my ass into gear. The past 3 months I spent every spare second I had working on it.

Tore the front end off and cleaned/painted it. Here is a list of what i have done so far.

2004 5.3 dbw swap (150k miles)
All new gaskets
New Pickup tube with brace
All new sensors
Btr truck Norris cam
Btr beehive valve springs
Billet oil barbel
Ict billet motor mount plate
Ict billet torque converter adapter
Speed engineering stainless longtubes
Speed engineering dual 3” exhaust with x pipe(still need to put on)
Still using my b&m th400 for now
New hood hinges
New carpet
New lights
New dash pad and arm rests
Boyd welding fuel cell
340lph aeromotive fuel pump
All -6 ptfe an lines
Whole truck re wired headlight to tail light
Custom intake manifold cover
Airaid U build it intake with k&n
Stand-alone harness on stock pcm
Efi live tuned
New speakers
Retro sound head unit
Eventually will have 6 6.5” subs down firing behind the seat on like 2-3k watts

Originally wasn’t planning on the ls swap yet but found this one with full stock harness, 4l60 trans and all accessories for 800 so I jumped on it.

Had a few hiccups here and there but overall fairly easy swap and easy to adapt.

Typical 5.3 broken exhaust manifold studs. Luckily only had to weld and remove 2

Cleaned and painted the engine gloss black. Got it mated to the th400 then installed in the truck. Fits a lot better than the sbc 350 did that was in it stock too!

Pulled the bed to install the Boyd tank. Got fuel pump/sending unit/tail light wiring tan at this time and feed/return lines ran. Got the front end reassembled and started wiring everything else. Found my old spectre intake to put on for temporary so I could get the base tune and everything done.

Running a stock upper Tahoe/Silverado hose with a steam port adapter for now until I eventually get a ls swap radiator with driver side outlets and steam port fittings.

As far as adapting goes most stuff bolted right up with little modification. Although I found out quickly that the stock shift linkage was a no go but luckily lokar makes a billet adjustable shift rod and that worked perfect.

gotta recone the subs still. might be next season for that. and yeah yeah i know smart ass haha
Your lucky you can use your dads Huge Shop.
Yeah I wont deny that at all. They say if you have a trailer, a big truck, shop, or a lift then everyone is your best friend for them.........thats why i dont have any of these and my dad is my best friend :hahano: all jokes aside though I am super grateful my dad lets me take over the shop when needed...he also makes me take care of most his vehicle modifications or projects which of course im happy to do.
