have a 1998 tahoe had a slight miss at idle and very faint through out the rpms. No codes i checked the cap and rotor to see how mutch play was in it and was a good 1/4 inch maybe more so i swapped distributors with a new one and it idled and still had the miss but more promenent and missed and poped when on test drive i re stabbbed it in and it seems it got worse and on the 3rd time i took it for a test drive and it died engine barley running and had 0 throttle response and it bogged down and died. All 3 tests at idle reved to 3k jusy to see if it would clear in park all 3 test drives hear a squeal if more than half pedal but not in park idleing. spider/fuel delivery/spark is eliminated. Ive done every test i can to check fuel and spark and everything checks out. After getting it home when it died fuel psi was at 50 wouldnt go up then i pulled distributor again started from 0 again set to tdc on compression with tabs lined up on balencer and timming cover now it wont throw codes or start at all. Fuel psi is back to 60 key on. Only thing that was touched was the distributor kinda scratching my head. Also did new cap rotor plugs and wires 4 weeks ago and ran fine when i noticed the slight miss is when i decided to pull the distributor. It points at 1 but looks a little bit more twords 7.security light turns on with key forward blinks cpl times then goes away. There is a u1000 code but thats been there for awhile before i did plugs wires cap/rotor and now distributor and crank sensor. Did get crank and cam sensor corralation 1345 on 1st 2 trys now after it died it hasent thrown that code. Everytime i clear u1000 key on but NOT attempting to start comes right back
