1-2 shift problem?

This morning I started the truck and let it warm up for a couple minutes in the driveway. I backed out and drove away, but when it came time to shift to 2nd, the trans did something weird.

The truck felt like it lost all acceleration, although the engine held its RPM... then after about 1.5-2 seconds of no power to the wheels it shifted gently into 2nd and drove fine the rest of the morning.

What's up with that????

tranny...how many miles and is it still stock?
4L60e?

Stock as a rock, 98k on the 4l60e (I assume).

No way... the trans can't be bad. It drives perfectly otherwise, it was just this one glitch so far.

I thought I'd read somewhere about 1-2 shift problems on the T&Y trucks... hrmmm... maybe I'll try and find out more on that. I definitely see lots of guys installing corvette servos in their 4l60e's....

FWIW I would replace the fluid and monitor. You're right on that 100K clip so I would personally go with Mobile1 full synthetic and monitor.

Not to mention your tranny was cold anyway.

Yes, the truck was relatively cold still. It had just been idling maybe 2 minutes tops.

Trans fluid change. Cool. Did GM ever put drain plugs in the trans pan on these? Sure wish they would like they do on the newer cars now...

mine did fine until the 1-2 issue, and I had 81,000 miles. Then a total rebuild.

sluggish shifts 1-2, really bad when colder temps. I could be sitting sometimes at a stop light, go to hit accelerator and it feels like it's taking off in OD not first. let off accelerator, and then it engauge in low gear and go thru gears fine.
