I was driving down the interstate and all of a sudden the sound cut off. The radio was on, nav screen lit up, but no sound. I tried a CD, radio, iPod, nothing would play sound through the speakers.
Once I got to my destination, I turned the truck off, cranked it back up and my radio worked fine.

I'm wondering what could be causing this problem. I have noticed that sometimes when I crank the truck a high pitched beeping noise that normally doesn't happen will chime and "stablitrax off" will be displayed on the dash board.

Anybody have any ideas? Thanks

I would assume it is an amp issue. Not sure exactly what but it shut off and needed to be restarted. Have you messed with any wiring lately?

No. I never touched any of the wiring. It hasn't done it since (knock on wood)

It may have gotten hot. Playing for a long period of time?

Quick question, Did your blinkers still make any noise after it happened? I have had my truck 2 + years and it has done this twice. Everytime after turning it off and letting it sit for a minute the radio worked fine.

Are you still using the factory nav?

The radio was playing for about 20 min or so. I'd be shocked if it was overheated.

I didn't notice the blinkers not making noise. BUt yes, its the factory nav system.
It hasn't done it since.
I commute a lot. It's a 2007, but I'm already at 96,000 miles. I guess its just getting old?

I am having this same problem with my '07 Tahoe. It started while I was parked at a relay race waiting for the runner to arrive. The engine was off and I came to sit in the car and turned on the radio, but it made no sound, despite the fact that it was clearly on. I'm not sure if it's related, but I discovered shortly after that the battery had gone dead. Got a jump and drove off. That was two days ago and I've driven the car several times since then, and tried turning the radio on and off several times, but the stereo and turn signal clicker are still silent. I can't figure out what, if any, fuse could be blown. I haven't pulled them all yet, but that is my next step.

Any advice would be appreciated.

2007 Tahoe LT with factory stereo, no nav. OnStar is silent as well.

Yours is an amp issue.
