First post. I’m looking to buy a Denali. The one I found is a Florida truck in good condition (rare up here in Michigan), but the coolant temperature gauge doesn’t work. Need ideas on how to fix it and cost associated with that work. Gauge does not move, stays dead to the left. Thanks.

That means the stepper motor that moves the gauge is shot. Very common issue with these trucks. If you’re handy with a solder gun than you can order the updated stepper motors on eBay, and pull the cluster, and replace the motor. If not, there’s quite a few places that fix them. I believe there’s a thread on this topic in the 2000-2006 sub forum.

You could also read the coolant temp with an OBD reader to confirm the discrepancy. Although I have a Tech 2, I believe that most basic code readers would display it.

Also, there's a sender (much like the notorious oil pressure one) on the drivers side near the front of the block.
