I just bought a 03 Yukon with 97000 miles on it. When I test drove it the trans shifted normal. After one day it now sometimes when it shifts from first to second the rpms will hang a bit then it will shift with a small jerk. It does not do it all the time. All the other gears seem to be normal..does this sound like a servo prob or something more serious

Thanks

That doesn't neecessarily have to be an issue. Does it have a shift kit in it?

My 03 tahoe does the same thing... I've been told its nothing serious, and nothing I need to worry about.

Who knows...

Did you check the fluid level? After I did my trans flush, my fluid was a little low and did something similar. Once I topped it off and got all the air out of the system, it shifts fine. Bottom line, check the fluid level

It sounds like the tow haul button is on. That's what my truck does when i have that button turned on!! When it happens try hitting that button and see if it makes a difference.

+1

I have experienced this too, and was also told (by my Transmission guy) not to worry about it either. He spoke very highly of our trans (he said he regularly sees them hit 250,000 miles before they need replaced). His exact advice to me was: "Drive it until it dies. It's not worth messing with until then" (as long as you care for it of course).

My advice would be to check the fluid level, color and smell. If it's low, too full, dirty, or burnt, then address those issues. Otherwise, don't worry too much (unless it starts thowing codes). That's my 2 cents anyway.

my 03 did the same thing

theres an update for the pcm i guess, guy did it while programming my gauge cluster (which he ****** up, but thats beside the point)

needless to say no jerk when it shifts from first to second anymore

it only ever happened to me when i did a slow acceleration, if i punched it, it wouldnt be so noticeable

yeah, mine has done it for over 150k now... no issues - dealer replaced servos and all... I wouldn't worry.

not a big deal, its because your servos weaken over time and start to drag the shifts out. thats why when you punch it , you cannot notice it at all be cause the tranny pressure is higher. and i bet a good portion of the people that have the dragged out 1-2 upshifts, you have a very fierce 3-2 downshift
