03 dash bezel in 2000 dash

2000 dash+++ FINALLY DONE++++

Has anyone done this conversion to retro a DD? If so, how did you relocate HVAC controls to fit newer bezel? I have a 03 cage, just need to relocate HVAC controls. Any pics of the relocate would help..... thanks in advance.

From what I understand 03 dash bezels won't work cuz there holes are slightly shifted over from ours, and the way to go would be to 00-02 bezel and mod it,thats if you don't wont to mod your original one. I got pretty lucky, in the fact that my brother has a 2004 Tahoe, and I pulled his bezel out and popped it in my last night. Everything fits. The Ash tray and 12V outlet door need to be modded a little, but I have to paint the bezel anyways. My dash is a light brown color, that doesn't come in the 03 and newer bezels. The only thing I still have to figure out is how to move HVAC controls down about 1/2" or so. Hope to get a bezel in the next day or so to start working with.

i just did mine. no pics of it. but its pretty easy. i removed the cage and slotted the holes with a round file so it would go down. and also cut the clips off the hvac unit and instead slotted the holes on that and used screw to hold it in. then used a dash kit for a 07-09 tahoe, cut the mounts off of it and made brackets out of metal strapping that bolt to the side of the deck, and also a piece screwed to the back to make it harder to steal and helps stabilize it in the dash. i didnt mess with the ashtray or power outlet door...i dont need ashtray and i can still plug stuff into the power outlet if i need to. took about an hour to get everything fitting right.

Sweet. That's what I was thinking after pulling my brothers apart. Just cut off the pins and use the screw holes instead. Why didn't you just use a 2003+ dash kit? After changing the cage and bezel, isn't it the same as installing it in a 03+????

i didnt change the cage. i moved the cage down. ill take some pics of it installed.

also i work at chevy and got the bezel for about $110 including tax. a few days later i found one laying around and gave it to a guy that doin the same thing in his silverado.

friend used a 03+ cage on his over the weekend and still had to hack it up. use the cage you have and it will look better...

Also will a2003 silverado Bezel work? Junk yard near me has two that are totaled out pretty much anything tastes not seats suspension engine or transmission related can bee picked over for under 20 bucks

it looks like the newer dash bezel hangs lower than the origional, does it interfere with anything? is it noticable?

im looking at doing this conversion to my 02 denali, but im worried that the 03+ dash bezel will hang too low and not fit right with the console.
